What of hours do you work?

The world never stops, so not everybody works a 9-5 anymore. What kind of hours do you work, and would you prefer it any different? Do you ever go in on your days off or have to take calls from work when you’re not in?

At present I'm still on maternity leave, however when I do resume working in November I shall return to my 9 - 5 Mon.-Fri. flexitime schedule.

Please Note: Due to my type of employment it sometimes becomes very necessary to work extensive overtime including weekends, for which we are naturally very well compensated for.

As am I - I’d definitely be questioning everything I know if I ended needing to take maternity leave. Lol.

I teach kindergarten - my contract hours are 8:10am -3:20pm for 182 work days out of the year (mid August- end of may). Yes, I love my schedule!

During the school year:

I do go in earlier or stay later as needed but I don't go in on days off.

I'm not required to respond to emails on days off but I always do. 🙂

Sounds like you love your job! The summer off would be a great benefit.

I used to reply to emails after hours. I no longer respond to clients, but I do respond to suppliers. Suppliers don’t care when you respond, but clients? If I reply once, they expect all the time!

@qwertsy yes, i do love my job and yes, summers are nice! I can only imagine how demanding clients must be but yes, best to set the expectation early. 🙂

Week on / week off, hours are whenever the phone rings. Average 12 ish hours a day, used to be more but it’s been quiet lately. I work some extra days but again it’s been quiet so there usually isn’t any extra available

I’ve always liked the idea of week on week off. Do you find it better than 5 on two off?

It’s the best. Get 2 weeks off every month, how can you beat that?

That’s what I’d enjoy! 2 days makes it hard to travel anywhere to relax.
