How should a supervisor or boss come to an employee when it comes to critiquing a flaw in there work?

Actually explain how to do the deed better don't just yell and scream at the employee for not being up to snuff. So many people just wanna like actually know what they did wrong. And not get a empty ended ITS YOUR JOB THEN DO IT LECTURE. In which case most people just then resort to flipping the desk or cubical and quit. So many like experienced managers refuse to like teach people how to do the jobs they need filled that people are just giving up on applying and wanting to work.

I used to just take that employee aside in a private setting and discuss what they were doing wrong and how to remedy the situation. I never made a big deal about it and never really had to threaten a corrective action. I preferred to keep it all in house.

You just be blunt about it. A boss should not have to worry about being critical. It's part of the job.
