Do you think being educated would give you status that merely having money would not?

I think even if I had billions, I would not feel successful unless I had a graduate degree or a phd. I had a classmate at the same level as me 6 years ago that is now a professor at a very very very elite American school and even though I might have more money then him when my business flies, I feel he has status and opportunities I don't have because of his privileged and well earned position in life. He is also fairly good looking and a very good person too, cause I saw how he treated people who had no status or power like children and charities.

First, don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched. Starting a business is a gamble in which the odds are against you unless you are from a wealthy family who leverage contacts for you. I know because this is what I’ve been working on for awhile. Like Kenny Rogers said, “You never count your money when you’re sittin’ at the table / There’ll be time enough for countin’ when the dealing’s done.” Right now you need to stop thinking about status and put 95% of your mental focus on one thing: closing your first deal. Not how life will be when the business flies, not making more than some high-status professor at an elite school, or worrying about how you might not be a real success without a grad degree. What does that have to do with making a sale? Nothing. ABC: Always Be Closing. If your business is a book, you need to put pen to paper if it’s not done and you need to be doing something to market the book every day.

Second, credentials and degrees are not a path to fulfillment in and of themselves. I have a graduate degree from a very very elite school. It raised eyebrows sometimes but didn’t confer much status at all. I have had wealth and job titles. This was not because of the degrees but because I outworked, outperformed, and my peers followed my lead. What gave the highest status? The titles! Of all the stupid things… But elites in the West (may they be cleared out) are a treacherous, petty lot. They can sniff out people with moral fiber or integrity and manipulate things in ways that make them choose between their position or their integrity. So none of it lasted. The degrees didn’t save my career. My abusive ex got the money in a divorce because there is no justice in the justice system. Most of my “friends” in the elite class backed way the hell away. If I recover financially I’ll be better off for it because it will be through my own private business, no executives to deal with. If I don’t, I’ll work my latter years in low-status jobs until I’m too infirm to work and will be judged as a loser by the people who are impressed by degrees and status. And frankly, such people can go take a running jump. Don’t be one of them.

The reason we get education is to aquire money and status. If you already have money and status without education you're either a lucky person or born to the right people
