Would you pretend to laugh at your CEOs jokes?

Our CEO is not a very nice person.

She's 62, rich and quite stuck up. She's very awkward in social situations and other managers have to babysit her on purpose so she can speak.

It's like she's been locked up in a palace all her life.

I know that she doesn't like me.

A lot of people laugh at her jokes which aren't even funny.

We have a social gathering which is quite small, about 10 of us.

Would you still laugh at her jokes when they're not even funny?

This reminds me of the episode in Friends.

Just smile at them, that's the best finesse, like you acknowledge your joke, it avoids awkwardness and doesn't put anyone on any awkward or bad side with anyone and you didn't have to laugh

This is a good middle ground. I would never advocate going over the top. If it wasn’t funny, then it wasn’t funny. But no need to spoil to mood. Just smile to be polite.
