Took so many hours to study for an accounting exam and I failed it pretty bad. It’s making me stupid tbh. Really down on myself. I’ve handled math up to calculus and physics fine though. Got straight As. Getting into finance and it makes me feel like I chose the wrong career now.

Oh god... accounting. I had to take a intro accounting for my undergrad degree. It was required by the school for core cirriculum. I hate it and by far my worst class in my entire college experience. I am pretty good at math too. It is because of the other concepts that are presented that are not just base math that make it hard. Same with physics. That is structured very differently and totally different conceptually. You probably don't understand the account concepts much like I didn't. Don't feel bad. Tons of people I knew didn't do well in accounting. Glad that crap is over for me.
Was financial accounting easier or harder than managerial accounting in your opinion?
It was so long ago. Mine was literally accounting 201. Required by the school for all students regardless of major.
Because its applied mathamatics that you use on the job. Calculus and physics is more theoretical. Physics is a theoretical science and calculus is theoretical.
It's like how a lot of people fail out of remedial aldrebra. Remedial math tests your math from grades 1-12. While calculus doesn't test your arithmetic and just focuses on theory.
Accountants use practical math. Like from told me he only uses adding subtracting no aldrebra when he started and now that he's got a CPA he uses a little bit more math, but it's still basic math.
Its applied mathamatics and not the theoretical math like calculus. Like people do good in calculus, but struggle in liner aldrebra. And that's because liner aldrebra is hard because applied mathamatics that you're going to use on the job.
