Is it really a skill to be naturally good at math?

I've always noticed math is the subject many people have trouble with since their school years. I must say it has never once given me trouble. I actually thought wasting papers on writing 20-30 solve problems was boring. I already knew it without even studying them.

I used to be tardy to math classes (even missing 10-15 minutes of the lecture) and still got an easy A. Several people have told me that I'm lucky to have math skills. Is it?

Ironically I didn't really care too much and was just doing the boring homeworks just to maintain that A. I could've passed the class with all the A's I got on the exams but if I didn't do the pathetic homeworks, that would drop it to a B--.

what I can say is this... in almost 20 years of tutoring... there has been not one case in which I could not find a way to show someone how to understand math

the vast majority of people who have trouble and struggle with math... they either have NO real interest and incentive to learn it or, they were not taught properly at all

but, to your question... both things can happen, you can be born a genius or with enough aptitudes to get math... and you can also develop the "skill" or learn the tools to do and be better at math too

I suppose I was just made to have those skills. The irony is I never felt the urge (and still don't care) to expand my math skills. I could if I wanted to but it's not really a passion I go crazy for. I found it so boring and unmotivating whenever teachers made us do 20-30 equations or graphs, making us waste paper after paper.

I know, I had it similar, plus... going deeper into math or physics would have been a nightmare for my fixations, lol...

Your Math skills sound amazing. I loved math, but it didn't love me, so that is one reason all through school they had me in General math. One year my cousin taught me math in middle school, he even gave us homework during Christmas holiday and nope I didn't do it. How we were related, his mother and my grandma were sisters. But yet math can be good, but you figure of all the classes in school, very few require us to get a good job in life.

Even though I have good math skills, it's not really something I'm so passionate about. I didn't really feel like doing 20-30 long equations and wasting papers on something I already knew. For me it was like a boring school routine, with some of the most boring teachers. There was a math teacher that was once reading things from the book and going by the answers on the back of the book, which it was pathetic.
I only did my math homeworks just to maintain the A. Even if I got A's on all my exams, if I didn't do the homeworks, my grade would've dropped to a B-. Personally I'm not interest in further expanding those skills, which can be ironic.

I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah it's not for everyone. Personally I would find my math classes boring. For me it was like this: imagine already knowing something and yet they make you waste papers on writing the same concepts over and over. It got to the point that I really didn't care if anyone wanted to copy from my math exams or homeworks. I was bored and just never felt the need to expand those skills.
