Are waitresses in California earn good money?

Or the good money comes from the tips but not from just a salary? Does anyone knows who live in CA or in other US states that knows about this?

Do all waitresses in Los Angeles really want to become movie stars or that is just a myth? I heard some time ago there was like a pattern on that waitresses living and working in the entertainmetn capital, they all want to become actresses or models. Is that still a pattern or not anymore? Or most waitresses are students which means they are still young since they need to earn good money for college so they need to work and most of the time the easiest job to find is to b ecome a waitress when you are still young?

I had a tall and fit blond friend I met through a bowling event and she told me she made very good tips when she worked as a waitress but she left her job very early cause she felt like her customers treated her like a sex mannequin and not like a normal person. I also remember when I went to eat at a dining place that always had very good looking servers and one time there was an obese server who worked there, and she quit in under 3 weeks cause she realized she did not get the same attention and consideration and politeness here more attractive co workers got. I ate there twice a week so I knew all the servers by face and she disappeared in 3 weeks while others stayed there for 8 years or more.

I’d say it’s like everywhere else where it depends on where you work. Anything that is a tourist trap I’m sure waitresses name 6 figures. I work at an uppity low key tourist trap and make about 50k a year

They probably do but the cost of living is so high that they end up living paycheck to paycheck

@asker depends on who you are talking to. A trip to Europe depends on how much you save. You can hold any job title and not be able to afford a trip if you blow all of your money

I don't believe waitress's anywhere are paid well. They make the most from tips.

In NYC high end steak house. Some guy told me he was getting $2k cash a month, that was 20 years ago. He was able to buy a small apartment by saving like crazy.
everyone’s situation is different.
I know a very pretty girl who works in a very high end restaurant (not going to be a movie star)…was only scheduled to work 2 days a week.
you will have to talk to them to know their story why/how they earn their money and how they save/spend. They may have more than one job.

No. I believe you get paid minimum wage but because the city is so expensive and rents so high its not worth it. People are fleeing california. Waitressing would be OK if you had no bills. What a lot of aspiring young actresses are doing is trading sex for a place to stay and bills paid. Basically you find a sugar daddy, an older man with money preferably one that can hook you up with a role.

It's even harder now because of the nepotism in Hollywood. Some person in the industry's kids will have an immediate advantage over you due to their contacts, years of coaching, stylists, make up artists etc.
