I just got offered to just show up in some of the videos of certain Shanghai Based famous Tiktok (Douyin) creator.

The job interview was meant to be about something else (part-time) and they ended up offering me something else.

Why would somebody pay you to appear in their videos.

I turned that down.

That’s super crazy.

What's strange about it? Actors get paid for acting. They wanted you as an actress, they offered pay. Tiktok or a movie doesn't change it.

Silliest thing that was sort of a job that I have done... got paid to hit on a friend's girl. That's probably as silly as it has gotten.

I have been offered pay to attend meetings and just agree. To clarify I have nothing to do with the company or any relevant knowledge.

My personal point of pride is that I have been, quite a few times, offered the 'job' of trophy husband. Never took it. But its very flattering. Maybe a bit concerning. I need to ask myself just what vibe I give women. Am I just a highly intellectual toy?

If you are helping out by participating. Why not take a share of the profit -a share they are willing to give you.

Background singers and dancers get paid. Where is the ethical problem for you? We pay people to be funny. Pretty. So on. Participating in viral tiktoks you are giving away part of your identity to a script. That is worth renumeration.

Not silly, bit morally objectionable. Most people wouldn’t see the problem with taking a promotion to manage a landscaping crew. I did. I was underpaid as a field hand and so were my American coworkers. The visa workers were paid the same, but took advantage of exchange rates that allowed them to “live like kings” in their countries of origin as my manager put it. I didn’t want to become part of the problem and turned it down. My manager looked for a petty reason to fire me because I told him this. I was one of his better laborers as well.

I was talking to my Hispanic foreman about how he said Hispanic bosses are the worst compared to Caucasian ones. He said that’s what he liked about Americans. I told him “I hate some Americans.” He replied “That’s such an American thing to say.”

The silliest? Got a job offer to be a sign spinner instead of being a customer service attendant? Job paid $11.50 for attendant while sign spinner was $9. I gave a half hearted laugh and said "You joking with me. What about the attendant job?"

"Ohhh, we don't need any attendants. We need folks to be coming in! So we need sign spinners. But it's only temporary tho."

I honestly thought about saying saying yes but a man quietly came in, sweating and dropped the sign on the floor next to the interviewer and just... left. And without a word, so did i.

The silliest? Close enough I think.

My best and silliest role was I got paid 10k a month clean for doing nothing ! It lasted about 1 year , man I'd love that role now and that money was 20 years ago.

The backstory was , I was paid not to leave , a road that they had permit issues with ( they thought max 3 months , so were prepared to factor in 30k ) , but things went sideways , and I had signed a contact - What a ripper !

The job position was different, I went there thinking it was a job that I have worked for years and know pretty well. And they said, no you don’t do anything, your mind is not necessary, you just pose

They didn’t say I had to appear in her TikTok. The position sounded very solid until I figured she never actually wanted that, she wanted me to pose. That was the main criteria, she chose me according to my appearance not according to my mind.
