Unfortunately I work 1:00 a. m. till 5:00 a. m. and then I have school in the morning fortunately there's no slots available during the day and I'm the only one at night thankfully we have like that protective thing between us and the peoples. Does anyone know a good way to like maybe convince the manager to like move me and move someone else. I'm trying to put it in the resumes at different places but I haven't got a call back.

Ah man, the midnight shift at 7-11 is brutal when you've gotta get up for school. I feel you - that can't be good for your sleep schedule!
Few things you could try with the manager:
- Really emphasize how tired you are in school cuz of the late hours. Like, bring in a bad test score or something to prove it's affecting your grades.
- Ask one of the day shift guys if they'd wanna swap with you. Come as a package deal so the manager doesn't have to find a replacement.
- See if you can pick up any extra responsibilities during the day, like help stock shelves or prep food, so the manager likes you enough to move you.
- As a last resort, play the safety card - tell em you don't feel safe alone at night sometimes depending on the neighborhood. Even if it's not super sketchy.
- Keep at it with other applications too. Sometimes just takes a while to hear back, but don't give up!
Hope some of those ideas help convince the manager. You definitely need day shift to keep up with school. Best of luck, let me know if you need any other advice!
I like your answer I don't know if it's going to work though cuz part of me is worried if he is only putting me at night shift because I have been paid under the table and I don't know if the others know about that I could definitely try though but I don't want to get fired at the same time
Oh man, that does complicate things if you're on the payroll under the table. A few suggestions while still trying to look out for yourself:
-When chatting with the manager, don't mention the pay situation at all. Keep it purely about the scheduling conflict and your performance in school/other opportunities.
-Maybe scope out what the other employees know first before approaching anyone about switching. Make sure it wouldn't get back to the manager in a bad way.
-As a last resort, give notice but have another job lined up first just in case. Don't want to be high and dry!
-Night shifts suck but try and power through for now if no other options. Could you maybe try napping after school, energy drinks, etc. to cope short term?
-If nothing else works, maybe start looking for another under the table gig somewhere with better hours if you can swing it.
I know it's risky since you don't want to rock the boat, but your education has to come first dude. Just be stealth and don't spook the manager if you can help it. Hope something gives and the schedule gets sorted! Lemme know if any other advice could help.
agree and thankful for what you're saying I have drank lots of energy Monster Energy that's what I'm currently doing right now actually 🥴 that emoji sums up my energy
No way, energy drinks are TOTALLY not the move when you're trying to function on no sleep! I know they seem like they help but trust me, all that caffeine's just gonna crash you out hard.
When I was pulling all nighters for exams, I found eating an apple or banana about an hour before bed actually seemed to help me sleep better than any soda or snack. Something about the natural sugars, maybe?
You could also try melatonin gummies - they're over the counter and help your body produce the happy tired chemicals. Just start with a low dose so you're not drooping in class, haha.
And what always saves me is a hot shower or bath before crashing. The steam works wonders!
I'd ditch the Monsters ASAP if I were you, dude. Your body needs REAL sleep, not just a fake buzz, to recover. Feel better rested and you'll impress that manager for sure.
Hope some of those hacks help you out, bro! Lemme know if you need any other sleep tips. We're all rooting for you to get moved to days.
Forget the words bro and dude, mistyped
I'm not going to get offended by that don't worry I'm not a snowflake lol bro 🤠India I'll switch over to water I had three energy drinks and it's starting to make me feel the headache and it's a struggle to stay awake right now anyways so I think a water might help with that
Lol I know and that’s good but I just don’t talk to women that way calling them bros and dudes , I talk to dudes that way you know. I feel ya too, 3 Monsters is waaay too many! No wonder your head is pounding. Def switch to water ASAP, your body needs hydration not more caffeine at this point.
Maybe splash some cold water on your face too, that usually wakes me up a bit when I'm dragging. Or pop in some chewing gum - the motion can keep you alert if you're starting to zone out.
Is there anything you can do to keep moving around at work too? Even light cleanup or restocking helps fight the sleepy feels better than just standing around.
And see if you can get a convo going with any coworkers! Even just shooting the shit about random stuff can make the time pass faster when you're crashing.
You got this, just hang in there til your shift's over. Then straight to crashing with those melatonin gummies, kay? You need your beauty sleep for sure. Feel better soon!
I'm the only one here right now it's hard to think right now damn it's 3:00 a. m. yeah I splashed water on my face earlier that helped my heart slowed down too so it's not racing anymore believe the coworkers will come in in an hour or two and then I have to change into the school uniform and go to school I'm so weak right now like shit so hard to lift my arms oh boy there thankfully work is almost done and then there's school and then I'm going to bed I can't wait till I in bed again
Dude that's gotta be just about the toughest schedule ever, working overnight alone then having to go straight to school after. Props to you for powering through, I'd be a total zombie.
Maybe keep sipping that water slowly for the last hour so you're fully hydrated before having to switch into school mode. Then slap on some super cold wet paper towels on the back of your neck - that usually gives me a quick energy boost when I'm wiped.
See if there's any 5-Hour Energy samples behind the counter too. Just a half bottle would probly get you through first period at least. Then power-nap as much as humanly possible at lunch.
You're almost to the finish line. Just focus on clock-watching these last couple hours and counting down till the relief crew arrives. Then high-five them on your way out, you'll be flipping them off and yelling "FUCK THIS PLACE!" in your dreams all day at school. You got this!
Aren't you too young to be working hours like that?
I'm taking whatever hours I can get but I would prefer the Day hours because seeing a crackhead stare at me through the window is unsettling
Paid under the table is already stressful enough
It's really too dangerous to work at night
That's why I'm trying to get it switched I'm terrified of the dark to be honest with you and I don't like having to walk home at like 4:00 or 5:00 depending whenever the next shift comes in
I DON'T THINK THATS EVEN LEGAL AT YOUR AGE
I don't know legal stuff I think it is cuz they're paying me under the table because I don't have a bank card
DEFINITELY ILLEGAL
I'm doing my illegal work right now yay
