Xavier University's Junior School of Music! Took piano lessons from 7 to 17! Great experience. Learned the most during high school, and auditioned in college to have a Music School teacher at Louisiana State University. He was a wonderful teacher. Have since taken a few lessons and really need to take more again. Also play guitar a bit. Took YMCA class in grammar school for the basics. Have a stratocaster and a gaudin 12 string.
Played the drums when I ordered a set for my young son. A lot of fun trying to teach yourself. Have an old violin I'd like to learn to play before arthritis sets in and I can no longer type, play or do anything with my hands!!! HANDS...
What a gift to be able to use them so creatively! And I had my son take piano lessons and he's a musician on his own: piano, guitar, bass, and he just started fooling around on the flute.
Piano is the jumping off point for all instruments. I'm so grateful for the lessons and the joy music brings to life.
Practiced and played B flat clarient from 7th grade to senior year of high school. It was fun but I was an intense person. I gripped my pencil tightly and wrote with dark ink ✍️ and the same was so for playing. After long sessions my teeth and/or mouth would hurt because of my intensity as well as the attempts to not let any air escape from the sides of the mouth piece, whatsoever. I’m sure there are better ways to do so with just lips. Having a private tutor to show better form definitely would’ve aided in this, but after graduating I didn’t see a reason to continue. Buying extra mouth reeds, maintaining it, and playing for? I’d miss the band and wouldn’t pursue a music career. IF I were to do so and be better I’d go on to play for the New York Philharmonic. Nothing else less than that.
Good times. 🪈🪘🥁🎷🎺🎸
I played the violin for 8 years while growing up, all throughout middle school, high school, and then occasionally while I attended university (usually for holiday events and festivities).
During my time at university, my focus switched to playing the drums, which I did for about 3 years or so.
That’s interesting that you played the piano and your brother played the violin.
My sister played the piano for many years as well. 🙂
I tried learning guitar at home, my parents took it off me, I tried learning guitar at school , the school took it off me. Same with singing, I am not apparently cut out for anything musical.

Piano, when I was in elementary we had a piano in the house. I'd sit at it and play around. Eventually I started teaching myself songs like Mary had a little lamb, and twinkle, twinkle little star. So my parents put me in piano lessons. Loved it..
I started playing piano at the age of 8 and still play to this day.
I started playing the piano at 5 years old then I tried the flute, harmonica and I play guitar
But mostly piano and guitar
I started with six years of piano, then I went to the drums, baritone, and finally settled with the trumpet. I still enjoy piano, and I still play the trumpet. I love music, and playing my instrument is relaxing!!
Flute- then it got boring
Piano- my teacher disappeared.
Guitar- MY FU- then i gave up on instruments... because they all disappear.
I played the gee-tar in school and still do, as well as the piano and drums.
Negatory. I wished I’d taken up a string, actually. My shoulder wouldn’t allow it now. My cousin was good violinist before meth destroyed his talent.
I learnt the triple harp at school and I still play.
violin... old times...
I studied piano for a few years when I was young, and still occasionally play simple songs.
I learned guitar at school and I’ve done singing lessons for 6 years
I self taught myself to play piano a little. Can't read notes, but I can usually play a song by ear
Drums. Sometimes I'd go down to my uncle's house a block away and tinkle a bit on his piano.
Piano in grade school, saxophone in middle and high school, and trumpet in high school.
Does air guitar and air drums count? Lol
I played the accordion for a couple of years.
