To an extent, absolutely. Although I'd say the people harshest on someone jobless is that person themselves.

Work absolutely is not the purpose of life. It is however a mark of usefulness in society. We can argue that is a misconstrued understanding and I wouldn't refuse it but to most if we do not feel we are contributing that invites in feelings of inferiority.

Its amusing in a sense. Being jobless is both the bottom and the peak of career success.

Banks generally are happy to help you open accounts regardless as it is normally you giving them your future business.

Of course if you were also after credit that's a different story.

Funny thing about banks, as a finance bro myself, they explicitly function by you giving them all the money and then they graciously allow you to use a comparable amount of their money.
But you are, the moment you put money in a bank, legally gifting it to them.

Definitely. Even noticed among Asian and middle eastern folks how Im being more respected and their eagerness to talk to me because of my employer even though the role is the same.
