Why do I keep getting payrises and good reviews but no additional work?

I keep getting raving reviews from my boss and I get payrises every year (I've been with the company 3 years) but my boss is reluctant to give me more work and responsibility. He always talks about upcoming projects I can do but never lets me lead.

My boss is a director and his boss told me last week that they 'ultimately' wanted to make me a director too and they see that potential in me. My boss asked me if i was happy with the outcome of that meeting but has never actualy spoken to me about this massive news in our one to ones.

Whats going on? If they want to make me a Director why would they not give me more money but no extra responsibility?

I wouldn’t be complaining, but I also have no ambition so I would be happy to just sit on a growing paycheck with no extra work. Why not just take initiative and tell your boss, “You mentioned this project was coming up, I’d like to be a part of it in a greater leadership role.”

I do and he agrees but then jusy doesn't follow through and i can't onky ask so many times.

Then tell him you know this is a pattern, I imagine there must be a “false promises” complaint you can make to HR

they are satisified but worry if you are burdened then less quality

usually thy just give you the responsibility and no extra money.

Exactly. Which is why im confused, makes no sense to me whats so ever!

Why would you want more work? The ideal situation is good pay for no work at all.
