What did you do, if you did work and go to school?
Yes, in high school, I worked at a small and local VHS rental store in South Carolina, US. It didn't pay very well but came with an employee benefit I loved in that we were allowed to rent up to 3 VHS tapes at once for free. I completely abused that benefit to the point where I had watched all the popular movies in the store and left to obscure B- horror films and the like.
I ended up watching a whole bunch of obscure films like Godfrey Ho ninja films as a result since I practically rented out the entire store while working there. 😅
Then while I was in university in North Carolina, I worked part-time at a hotel as a custodian with a bunch of middle-aged women who were part of the housekeeping staff. Mostly they had me do all the heavy-lifting work that the ladies couldn't do like carrying huge bed frames up and down stairs all day along with washing windows high up outside and making small repairs.
I worked as a tutor, yeah.
Yeah, I tutored athletes. It was fine except when someone high profile came through. Every time the athletics department demanded assurances that I wouldn't talk to the media about it. Like, cmon guys.. not only was I a veteran, quite used to keeping confidential information confidential, but I don't remember anyone's names anyway..
Oh. You were looking for ideas. Hm. Well, sadly there aren't a lot. Tutoring didn't pay much but I didn't really notice because all my tuition was paid by the military. I live in a college town and now that I think about it there doesn't seem to be many college students working anywhere around here. I think they get all their cash from loans or their parents. You kind of just have to accept that you're going to be exploited and take some service job like bank teller or waitress, I'm afraid. i guess it's not so bad if you have the energy for it and pretty ladies usually get tipped more generously as long as they work a little far from campus but it will consume a lot of time and energy, detracting from either your studies or down time..
@normalice poor kids
Yeah I work still. I bartend part time. Mostly summer to build up cash but also during the school year. It's really good money. Only thing that sucks is the best time to do it is Fri and Sat nights. So that kills your social schedule. There really isn't much better job in school than being tipped out as a bartender. You're pretty so you'll kill it hun. Even if you don't have knowledge they'll train you because they want nice looking girls behind the bar. The guys here will attack that part of my opinion but it is exactly them that drives it. If I could help you out or give advice don't hesitate to ask. Going to send you a follow here. Good luck. 💜
Yes, mainly a waitress in high school and college. My last two years of college, I worked as a night time custodian at the high school I went to. It worked out good, because it was nights and the pay was actually pretty good.

I had part time jobs.
When I was 13 and 14, I worked weekends at my uncle's full service gas station. It was fun.
When I was 14-15, I got a job working at a lunch counter inside a grocery store after school.
When I was 16, I got a job at a place called Pup 'n' Taco that was kind of like Taco Bell.
Then, for the rest of high school, I worked part time at a department store stocking shelves and working in the warehouse. That was a good job. I liked it.
And I still had time to surf, play rock music in garage bands, go on adventures in my car with friends, and party like a Viking.
In my last 2.5 years of high school, I had a part-time job making something like $2/hour in a town recreation program for mentally handicapped kids. It was about 6-8 hours/week during the school year and about 20-30 hours/week during the summer.
It wasn't a lot of money back then, but it was a very happy, rewarding, and transformative experience.
Werkin at school while at school lolz. It’s one of the best things because you can attend classes, take breaks/eat/social, and go to your job on campus with more convenience in between. Campus staff faculty are usually more understanding and will work around your school schedule!
I had a part time job and went to a college that had a work study program so I also worked full time during the year. I still could not earn enough money and eventually I fell behind on tuition and had to drop out. Later I went part time while I worked full time during the day until I graduated. Then I started grad school the next year at night too. It took me 14 years to finish.
Does robbing drug dealers and selling their shit count? Cause the money is still green
There's no evidence of this tho so I could be lying 🤷🏽♂️
I did odd jobs, one was at cricket club, also helped a friend of family who was a mechanical engineer.
not an actual job, no...
but ever since age 12 to 22... I did find a few ways to make some money, lol
fun ones too... maybe too fun, for some of'em
Yes, I worked an on-campus job as well as a few "on demand" off campus jobs as a local stagehand for tours coming through various venues in the region.
I worked when i went to evening school.
But i had the job before and went to school again to get a higher degree.
Worked as a cashier at A&P grocery, at McDonald's, in the university school cafeteria, as a housecleaner, in a university bookstore and lastly as a graduate fellow ran a scholarship program for high schoolers. Best job I had during college.
My parents didn’t allow me to. But I partied hard back then
I didn't because of disability. But I would if I could
Thanks for understanding
Thanks. It's easier said than done, but I guess it's possible if I feel confident enough to make the move
Okay. Thanks for the advice 😊
Yes, I worked a night shift (10pm-6am). We weren't supposed to sleep, but we did. I made tens of thousands of dollars while sleeping.
I started working part-time at 14 and had 2 jobs by the time I was 16.
