My manager called my colleague poison. Is this a bad sign?

My manager and colleagues situation has escalated. it went from not liking each other to my manager calling my colleague poison to me. Does this mean by manager wants this colleague out? And there will be nothing that can change her mind?

Its complex. First, your manager will try and get rid of that person they see poisoning the team. If your manager has a good relationship with their own manger, that person is gone in time. If they don’t, that person may be there for a while and it will get ugly.

The second part is that it is a warning to you to not align with that person as you will take some career damage as well. She may be saying this to help you and she may be saying this to cut off support from the other person which would make it harder for her to fire the person. Trust is broken with those two and the manager will want them out.

Someone told me early in my career that if you pick a fight with your boss, you are going to lose. He told me that right after he fired my boss. Anyway, this is decades of corporate experience speaking here.

If that would be a good thing then you have to assume poison is a good thing
