When I joined my company a year ago, my boss told me that they want people to come to the office every Thursday. Since then it has been made mandatory and they have now put a limit on how many Thursdays you can spend at home (24 to be exact). Now, every time I want to work from home on a Thursday, I have to submit a request for it on the same system I submit my vacation days etc, making it an extra pain in the behind to do. They have also recently started doing pizza Tuesdays which I just think is the epitome of stuck in 2015. It’s Wednesday night and the thought of going to the office tomorrow is just the opposite of what I want to do. The idea makes me want to throw up honestly… hanging out with crappy bosses, making small talk with people I don’t give two sh*ts about, the too cold aircon, the lack of privacy so I can't watch youtube while I work, also the lack of work and the amount of twiddling my thumbs that will happen… just NOOOO. Is the fact that my company is forcing this kind of experience a toxic trait? I feel like it is. Why can’t it be like one of those modern-view companies that were like ‘do you know what, people are happier at home, let’s not force them into a sterile, cold, heartless environment’.
If your company is also forcing you back to the office, drop a comment. If you had to go back full-time, I’m so sorry :(.

My work is also requiring return to office 3 days a week. Unfortunately I'm moving to a new city that doesn't have an office there but they still won't make an exception. So even though I've been there for almost 15 years, they are going to lose an employee due to these rules.
Sorry you are experiencing this though. I have no idea why companies are becoming so insistent on working from the office when work from home has been so successful for a lot of places.
"I can't watch youtube while I work" What do you do that allows you to work while also watching youtube?
That question is confusing … lol. What I mean is, at home I can multitask and watch something I enjoy while doing the boring admin tasks in my job. At the office you would be judged for that.
No it's not even remotely toxic. You're not getting paid to watch YouTube. If you just don't like your job then find a new one.
