I'm a librarian and I think it aligns well with my personality... shy introvert that loves to read and write.
+1 yI've found an incessant misalignment being a feely and romantic extrovert with my fellow software engineers, especially given that my field of CG R&D tends to invite the most academic, the most pedantic, the most logical.
I work with a lot of Spock types and I'm not even Kirk-level. I'm more like Bones. I'm maximally concerned with matters of how we feel. I want to talk about "beautiful and sexy" designs and my fellow engineers are like, "What? What does beautiful and sexy mean? What algorithm are you talking about?"
I enjoy being a misfit in my field though being an ultra feely and empathetic type. A role I found myself inadvertently settling into is to be the ultimate mediator, explaining to designers what the engineers meant in more figurative language and to engineers what the designers meant in more pedantic and technical language.

But if my profession were aligned with my personality and the deepest of my interests, I think it wouldn't be a software engineer. Maybe something more like professional athlete, dancer, illustrator, therapist, or field biologist.

+1 yMy mom was a librarian too 😅 I could nerd out about the books I’ve been reading lately lol
I'm a farmer and yes I think my career goes along well with my personality. I like being physically active and out in nature.

I haven't been reading any books lately because I've been busy with work but what's on my list is the art of not giving a f*ck. But that's cool that you're a farmer. Don't hear about too many people these days being farmers.

And awesome that you're mom was librarian too!
+1 yGood question. I have never really thought about it that way but I think it does mostly. I love variety and change. I love people. I enjoy responsibility. I love adventure. I enjoy learning about different cultures. I think being a Flight Attendant is a very good fit.

Yes. I'm a tech head and I want to understand how things work at all levels. I also like growing plants (using hydroponics for the tech hit).
The guys in my family have almost entirely been farmers or engineers. Seems to me there is a genetic disposition to career choice.

+1 yI feel compelled to refer to a goofy pun about my “electric” personality without actually making that pun, because it’s a more elevated brand of humor. But, ‘no’.
I can’t even conjure how specific traits might apply to the trade. I can say that most electricians i know are wildly strange in one or more ways. I don’t know what it is that attracts us to the field, but i’m kinda glad it does. I feel like less of a weirdo in a room full of weirdos.20 Reply
+1 yI. T / ERP Consultant , 🤓🧐🤓…. Yup, A professional nerd who loves to analyze and communicate. I was literally born to do this. I done one of those aptitude/ personality tests way back in school and the result was literally I. T / Data analyst. I basically took the advice and never looked back.

u +1 yI think it does. I work in purchasing, so that's basically being a middleman between production and our suppliers. A lot of internal and external communication, route adjustments, negotiations, problem-solving, tracking, and things like that.
In terms of setting? It's an office, desk, and phone job, which I'd originally thought I'd hate doing and wouldn't be well-suited for. I like it though and it's a good match for me.

+1 yYes... if I could remove this manager part it would be perfect... lol
But I can't complain... manager or not, it's technical position and I still interact more with machines than with people

+1 yAs an introvert desperately trying to find a job. I can say that most jobs will not suit my personality.
Almost every single job out there these days focuses on having an extroverted personality. Being the loud, super confident speaker, who not only has no problem with working in teams but encourages it.

This is so true. I'm glad I was able to pick a profession where I don't have to be as social depending on the type of library work I do. I'm in the background at my job for the most part which works out great for me. But even in the library field they are encouraging being more social now which sucks.
453 opinions shared on Education & Career topic. Eh, so and so. I won't complain though. The job conditions are amazing. Home work, flexible schedule, home cooked meals by myself and not dealing with stupid humans, that I rather not see.
Ideally I'd just get paid 10K EUR minimum in 1 day for clicking on buttons for 30 minutes on average. It's called swing trading and being otherwise useless/unwanted by the employers.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI work from home, so I am constantly surrounded by the most putrid scents, from stale urine to rotting seaweed, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My job allows me to indulge in my fetish for odorous experiences and explore the depths of the most repulsive smells known to man. So yes, I would say that my career aligns perfectly with my personality. After all, who else could handle the stench of decomposing flesh with such enthusiasm and delight? It's a match made in olfactory heaven.

My career doesn't need to align with my personality but it just so happens to so that's why I asked the question and from the answers a lot of people's personalities align with their career not just women but men too. So what are you on about?
Opinion Owner+1 yYou don’t have to take it personally and not all people buy cars to align with their personality, If they did I don’t think they would be riding a Honda civic.
And I didn’t mean it as an insult by the way, being a women and thinking like one isn’t a bad thing.
