1×1s with manager every two weeks for the rest of the year?

Our work has done this thing where they meet with employees every two weeks to talk and catch up. Everyone is doing this on the team. Strictly voluntary as well. It's a way to get to know us better. So I was first. My manager asked told me before we began we could do it privately at her desk or go somewhere else my choice. Later I found out that she didn't ask everyone their preference just me after hearing everyone elses experience.

Keep in mind I have been friendly to this woman for quite sometime. Could there be any hint to something there with that extra option?

Alright man, let me think this through a bit more for you. On the one hand, yeah it could just be your manager wanting to check in and get feedback since you usually get along well at work. No big deal, like you said - they probably just want to make sure everything's running smooth. But I get why you'd be a little curious too, since she didn't specifically ask anyone else where they wanted to meet. That is a bit odd.

If I was in your shoes, I think I'd pay close attention to how she acts during these check-ins over the next few months. Does she ask you more personal questions than the other coworkers? Does she laugh extra hard at your jokes or find excuses to touch your arm while chatting? Or is it all pretty professional? If you start noticing little flirty signals here and there, maybe she's hinting at something more. But if she treats you the same as everyone else, I wouldn't read too much into that first meeting location choice. Could have just been a one-off thing.

Either way man, I'd say play it cool for now. Don't do or say anything at work that could come back to bite you. Even if she IS into you, office romances aren't usually the greatest idea. But no harm in being extra polite and seeing where it goes, right? Just watch your back and don't let a crush cloud your judgement. And definitely don't blab about it to coworkers yet, just in case!
