Customer is right here. And I have had this attempted on me.
Closing time is closing time. If it was 10pm card functions on register usually lock. (Which is why I brought up I wanted three items and had cash, they let me in, and I was out before closed) They probably had people come in the door just before closing in the past and then load up on groceries for an hour and want to pay with card, which will not work. And or they are trying to cut down on their "after hour tidying up" work.

Dollar General is one of many companies that is borderline fascist in their oppression of employees. Those employees aren’t getting paid past 10 p. m. So why should they still be there “closing” the store for another hour without pay?
People tend to refuse to empathize with others anymore. I’d bet my left leg that the “customer” filming them and insisting she’s family with corporate bigwigs wouldn’t work for free. But she wants cheezy puffs and nail polish NOW, so those employees don’t deserve what she deserves.

Customer is rarely ever right. In many locations businesses will only allow already present shoppers to remain. Don't like it? Then go to the store earlier. Go to a restaurant earlier. Have been to restaurants 30 minutes before close they say "sorry we're closed" I can either be a little bitch about it and whine "you don't close for 30 minutes" or I can be a decent person and find somewhere else to eat.

No man, I worked in retail and if you want to actually get out on time? You have to close early or you're going to have a whole bunch of people wandering around that you're going to have to pressure to leave. Then they will drag their feet and before you know it? It's 40 minutes past your time to go home and you just wasted your life.

The customer is always right, at least that’s the saying but they are still open for another 15 minutes, they can’t just close early because they want to unless it’s the owner

The customer isn't always right. But if it was still open for 15 minutes in this case she was technically right however I can understand the worker's point of view, they probably have already had many last minute aholes before who stayed well past closing, resulting in them having to go home late.

Also when she says she drove 25 minutes to get there, I wouldn't be surprised if she was lying. I've caught many customers exaggerating and unnecessarily acting like victims at my old job.

But in the end it depends on the company policy.

@avery58 Yeah I’ve never had a problem going in 5 minutes before they closed because everyone knows they can’t lock you in and keep making announcements about it being closed but workers never leave for awhile after closing because they have other things to do before they can leave. I think she was in the right but they probably didn’t trust her being only 5 minutes in the store
