That a lot was important in adult life.
The liedetector revealed, that was a lie 😅
There is some stuff that is important for certain jobs. Not in general.
And some skills they just expect you to magically have when you finish.
They should teach more general practical skills.
Once you go into a certain career direction, then it's important to learn career specific skills.
I know they teach you a general basis for all kinds of things, but you won't use a lot of that stuff. It's wasted time.

"you won't have a calculator with you all the time." then here comes smart phones...

"you'll have to be early to college classes, they won't wait for you." then here comes the professor, 10 minutes late...

this one doesn't relate to me, but it's something i've heard so much and a few of my friends are going through still: "go to college so you don't get stuck at working at mcdonalds." went to college, gets in crippling debt from student loans, can't find a job that uses your degree, have to work at low paying jobs just to live and to maybe pay off some of your debt

they also didn't teach us how to do our taxes, how to do basic life stuff like change a tire, you know... useful things we actually need to know. they omitted a few things from history or didn't teach them at all. all corrupt crap that only worked in the olden days. education needs a big BIG upgrade.

When my teachers in Elementary told us we cannot achieve anything in life without a diploma. 😶 That was very ignorant of them. It's like saying if we can't afford school, we are going nowhere.

Realizing it now, having skills, personality, and networking are also important. Not just the paper alone. I've had opportunities even without my degree, yet. 👍

The only thing that comes to mind is when one of the maths teachers told me that very few people can just cruise through life without doing any work...
... except the boards of directors of every company on the planet match that description. There are loads of them.

      Yeah, that's a communist misconception.
Directors are in charge of keeping the company going so all us workers can have a job to go to tomorrow. It's a lot of stress and a lot of work, and the companies that have lazy directors who do nothing, or bad ones who make stupid decisions - those companies fail hard. Then everyone loses their jobs.

Just because they get to sit in an office doesn't mean they aren't doing anything.

“All of you will someday go to college and it will be 10x harder than what you are dealing with now. If you can’t survive highschool you won’t last.”

    …

Not remotely true. However that is it, they didn’t tell lies to me honestly. The health advice was great, history lessons were truthful & fact driven, the grading structure seemed strong since I always followed the rules / got work done, general life advice which was meaningful, etc.

The best one had to be when I went to a private Christian school in fifth grade. One of our text books actually said that Adam and Eve and Noah may have existed alongside dinosaurs. I told my parents that and they flipped out, especially my dad. My parents believe in God, but they believe in science more. They ended up pulling me from that school the following year

Not having a calculator with you in the future. Wellp smartphones are one.

Needing a diploma-certificate to have a job. Wrong as hell, most companies here don't care about the paper but do care about your years of workexperience.

they told us teacher are much stricter at studies. Nope, some are so lax as heck, even younger than us or don't bother even teaching

Reason I ask is because even the Holocaust museums and memorials, both here in the USA and in Germany, say the death toll was in the millions. Not to say that I don't believe you, but you can understand why I can't just take your word for it without evidence.

The bible is also a bunch of lies, so thats not really a good comparison.

However... history is written by the survivors.

So much of the history people learn is tainted with lies, ommitance and partial truths. The unfortunate reality is that we have no way to verify the majority of claimed historical events in anything close to accurate detail, because over time evidence is lost, destroyed, transformed, hidden, or misinterpreted.

I would bet that in most (if not all) wars, all participating sides lied about, remembered wrong, misinterpreted, and ommited information regarding events (very frequently in fact).

Even forgoing lies, humans under extreme stress are bad at recalling events properly, so even the claims if the few honest people are going to be filled with misinformation.

Its best to remain agnostic about any event where hard evidence is scant/unverifiable.

@TheSpaceGnome But there is evidence that the Bible was heavily edited by King James, Dr. Scofield and the jews. and that several books are missing.
If I wrote or edited the bible, I'd pick me as the Chosen One as well.

@macdaddyrico Thats irrelevant, all creationism religions are false (especially any involving omnipotence).

Infinity and opposites automatically debunk any version of the bible, or any other "omnipotent god made the universe" stories for that matter.

The universe always existed because a begining is impossible, and its impossible to be able to do everything because limitations are what enable doing things / opposites exist.
