What would be the best/ideal summer job for a 22 year old?

Here are some ideas for good summer jobs at 22:

- Lifeguarding - It's a classic for a reason. You get paid to sit by the pool and make sure no one drowns. Don't gotta do too much and you'll get a nice tan.

- Working at a summer camp - If you like kids, being a camp counselor could be lit. Get to be outside all day playing games and stuff. Depending where it is, could be a fun social scene too.

- Barback or serving - At a restaurant or bar near the beach is clutch. Tons of other people your age working there and you'll make bank off tips. Plus get invited to all the parties.

- Outdoor retail - Like a sporting goods store. You'll get discounts on gear so you can hit the trails or water after shifts. And learn about all the newest stuff.

- Movie theater - Free movies bruh! Plus you can sneak your boys in. Downside is dealing with crying kids sometimes but whatevs.

Me personally I'd look for something social where I can hang with friends after too. Camp counselor or beach bar job sounds dope. Make money and have a blast all summer.

I can only say what I have always regretted. I regretted that I never took a summer job at a national park like Yellowstone or whatever. In hind site, the pay didn't matter, and the work didn't matter. I just think it would have been a really good experience that I would never ever regret doing.

When I lived in California near a university, a lot of students fought forest fires in the summer. That would be different.

You can also check out work-away type programs. Some of them are super interesting. They are the kind of experience that you can't give a value to.

If all you want is a job to make money, those jobs are everywhere.

I'd suggest bartending for the reasons already mentioned: banking in tips; many people your own age; plus networking in general.
