Used to there would be someone at every or at least most registers. Now even during Christmas time. There is like one register and a line around the store.
Is it so hard to find people to run a cash register now? Like what’s going on

My guess is that to rampant inflation, fueled by indiscriminate money printing, wages have, by necessity been increased numerous times, making it more difficult for companies to employ, and pay, workers. Of course, self checkout is being implemented, as well.
Yeah true. Stores hardly even have full time baggers anymore. Most the time irs other employees helping bag when the checkouts get full
It's cheaper and quicker to have customers go through an automated check out line.
Yeah but some of these places don’t have that.
Human labor is too expensive. Hiring people would mean that the stores have to charge more for their products.

It is mostly self-checkouts now.
Well some places. But there are places that have two registers open. No self checkouts.
Also a lot of self check outs are going away and a lot of people don’t even use them
So why don't you run one of the registers?
I can only work one place at once. Lol.
That's technology for you! lol
They're coming back.
