Anyone ever deliver for DoorDash or Uber Eats? How was your experience with doing so?

I am thinking about delivering for DoorDash , since I am having a hard time landing a job , I signed up for it today and planning on starting soon. Can you please share your experiences with doing so? , I am leaning to start doing it , while I am applying to all these jobs I been applying to , Is it worth it?

I do uber eats every now and again when I need a little extra cash. You do really want to do it in a city area or a condensed restaurant area as it’s all based on location. One thing I appreciate about them is I get to keep the tip I made even if the order is refunded, but uber also makes it so that the customer can tip $0. You do get whatever mileage reimbursement is legally required for your state but it’s not always great. Overall, it’s not all that different from any other food delivery job except that you only get paid in tips and mileage, no hourly wage which kinda bites. The best times to drive are usually going to be between 4 and 9 pm tho, and depending on the neighborhood you can usually make like $50 for that time.

$50 for 5 hours is pretty low, wouldn’t you say?

Yeah, but that’s about what you make in any delivery place. The tips average out to roughly $10 an hour where I live, which is fairly middle class. You’d probably get higher tips in a richer neighborhood

I dated a delivery dude some years back and this mf would cancel on people all the time. He’d also eat their food if they didn't answer his phone call when he arrived. He was horrible

Well depending on the area you are operating in, you might want to have a gun to protect yourself from criminals that attempt to mug you, steal your car. Etc.

It’s very possible. I live in California, not all the areas are saturated with bad people but there are definitely areas where the likelihood of running into bad people is greatly increased

Yyep. Specifically the east side of the city and some areas in the south side of the city.

West and north LA are upscale and are nice areas with less homeless people and crime

Yeah, I dash with my stepdad, and from what I know it's super fun and easy, I can't say anything for uber eats tho.
