When a man is working a job that requires him to work long hours, is it good that he's sacrificing spending time with his wife in order to provide?

According to my stepbrother’s wife, no. They were only married for a year before she divorced him because his job was taking up so much of his time that they barely saw each other. Rather than stick it out, she chose to just call it a divorce and move on and honestly? Good for her.

Yeah, of course, and the intention should really be understood bc it's important for his efforts to be recognized.

On the other hand, guys aren't machines... We all need down time and quality time with our SO/partner, otherwise why are we in a relationship at all? So just remember to cull out some quality time with your sweetie. It doesn't have to be anything major... Even just relaxing and goofing off together at home is a reward in itself for your hard work, you know?

He has to sacrifice time with his kids if he wants those kids to live comfortably. Men working overwhelming more is actually one it the reasons men don't get custody of their kids. It's sad that providing for your family is seen as seen as a red flag.

It can be, but all work and no play makes Jack (or Brady) a dull boy, plus despite the monetary security and creature comforts being a work drudge can provide, often the lack of presence and communication can erode a marriage's trust.

Could they afford him working less hours? Would it be possible to get another job with better hours or salary?
How much does she earn?

It's all a balance.

Personally, as long as we would be afloat when it comes to bills and such, I would prefer quality time with my partner and for both of us to be less stressed.
Sometimes you just don't have that option.

So it's all circumstantial.
