I am a college graduate former software developer but now i work in the reception of a vacation hotel.
But my receptionist collague was a former construction worker who is a high school dropout. And he hates anything about education. And acts like an ignorant monkey.
I like my new job and i have to work here because it is only 17 room and a comfortable job but this guy is making my job much harder.

Ugh dude, what a pain in the butt that guy sounds like. I'd be annoyed too having to hear him run his mouth about school all the time, especially since you worked your butt off to graduate.
Few tips for dealing:
- Directly call him out when he says rude stuff about education or your job path. "Woah dude, not cool. Some of us like school, lay off." Makes it clear you won't tolerate it.
- Ignore his BS as much as possible by using headphones, focusing on your own tasks, chatting up other coworkers instead. Don't give him your energy.
- Remind yourself his opinion doesn't define you or make your choices any less valid. You did what's right for you.
- Talk to your boss if he's really disruptive. You shouldn't have to put up with harassment at work.
- Kill him with kindness when you have to interact. Stay polite but keep it surface level. He wants a reaction so don't give it.
Hopefully over time he'll stop hassling you so much once you take his power away. Keep your head up - you're moving forward with your life while it seems like he's stuck in the past!
If you don’t like your friend then just tell him how you feel and don’t he his friend.
