How to deal with a distant friend?

My friend has been acting really distant since Thanksgiving. Last time we hung out was entire Homidsy-weekend. I went home and he started acting distant. He kind of hinted how he wanted to just chill and enjoy the holiday, but we usually hang out and spend the holiday together. He expressed to me that because of his new job, he just wants to chill, that we would catch up soon but that he doesn’t want any obligations and is putting himself first and that he has other friends besides me. I know where this is coming from. His friend is jealous of me, which even he told me. He started talking crap about me and my friend defended me, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that he all of a sudden wants to spread out his time between his other friends. That’s fine, but I’m not going to be his text buddy. He thinks he’s making a real effort by texting me once a day. I tried to call him and he rejects the call, saying he just got home from work and wants to unwind. I even asked if he met someone or something, and he says he would tell me if he did. He’s just taking some “me time” I am understanding, but at the same time I’m not going to be put on the back burner because of jealousy. He hung out with me because he wanted to.

I'd lowkey stop texting and calling him first. If he doesn't want to contact you, he can totally get lost.
