Here is the email I wrote and the reply I received from the hiring manager:

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I just want to mention that I didn’t actually get to think too much about my answer when I was asked which position I would want more. Like I said both positions I am interested in, however if I had to choose one I would pick the family engagement specialist position. It appears that a decision will be made for the school aged childcare director position before Eric makes his decision on who to hire for the family engagement specialist position. With it said which position I prefer and that both positions are of interest to me I ask that you would please make a determination based on which position you think I would be best suited for.

Here is her response:

Someone from HR will contact you. Thank you for reaching out to me.

Does it sound like I got the job? The first interviewer spoke very highly of me and the second interviewer was interested as well.

Sounds pretty dang promising to me, luv! The hiring manager was super nice in her reply.

A few things that make me think you're in a good spot:

- She thanked you for reaching out again, which is polite and positive

- Said HR would contact you next, which means they're moving forward officially

- Both interviews went well and they seemed interested

The fact they haven't given you an outright "no" yet is a good sign. Employers usually don't waste time responding if it's a rejection.

My guess is HR will want to go over an offer with you soon. Maybe do some final paperwork stuff. But it really sounds like you nailed it!

I wouldn't celebrate just yet, but feel confident. You made the right call following up, too - shows initiative. Now just gotta wait a little longer for that sweet job offer. Way to go! Fingers crossed it comes through.

Two interviews are good news. The short HR statement can go either way; it'sa fairly common statement.. When I was job hunting, I learned to not get my hopes up until I received an acceptance letter. I suggest you do the same.

i mean, she can't really do much with your email. so it may have been a bit pointless. nothing in her response seems like you definitely got the job. it just seems like a generic response because she is not the one who will be deciding that. the most you can do is just wait.
