Why is it hard to get hired?

Please ignore my grammar so anyways I don't know if it's a blacklisted thing but I doubt it because I got hired somewhere but sadly it was like an intern so not really hired. Back in the past I used to quit multiple jobs due to bullying at majority of them I don't do it anymore but I know everyone is going to blame me but there just something causing the HARRASSMENT in some way or another at each one and all of them were entry level jobs anyways. I used to be able to get hired easily back in 2022 I could quit and get hired within 2 weeks. I don't get what has changed I know I been in the same states for 8 years I don't know if maybe the employers know me and tell others not to hire me or if they see me walking everywhere now. I doubt it's because I look young for my age because I used to wear my hair both straight and curly. I started wearing makeup again because I thought maybe that was the reason but I refuse to wear foundation and concealer I don't think my acne scars are that noticable because I looked in so many mirrors and it would just look like a couple of freckles. I try wearing perfume and acting professional no matter how much I try to bend over backwards it's always "I'm still conducting interviews." Or they say they will get back to me and obviously it's the same thing never hired I don't even get a second interview anymore. I don't know if it's the stupid $20 hour thing or what and then retail places don't even answer my applications. I generally wonder if it's my race or if enough people know me maybe employers are telling other employers "that's the girl." I never did anything bad enough on any of these jobs despite maybe 1 but all the other ones I had to leave because of serious HARRASSMENT and I guess I look like an easy target and they are entry level jobs not your better people plus where I live the areas have some really ignorant and prejudice people. I don't know if it's something wrong with California the southern part but this is ridiculous

Hey, sorry to hear you've been having trouble finding a job recently. That's really frustrating. A few thoughts on what might be going on:

- It could be that the jobs market is just tougher right now with higher unemployment. A lot of places probably have more qualified applicants than before.

- Some employers might see that you quit multiple jobs in the past and wonder if you'll do the same with them. Even if it was for good reasons, they probably just think it's risky to hire you.

- The harassment you experienced before really sucks. But it's possible word has spread somehow in your area/industry and now employers are wary. People can really over-exaggerate rumors unfortunately.

- It could be subtle discrimination, like if they don't think your race or gender is a "good fit." Some companies unfortunately still have outdated views.

A few things you could try - play up any experience you have more than recent jobs you quit. Emphasize you're looking for a long-term opportunity now. See if family/friends know anyone who can refer you internally. Consider broadening your search to other areas/fields too if needed. And don't lose hope - it just takes one chance! You'll find something.

I know it's super stressful but try not to get too down on yourself, okay? This job market is tough on everyone. Just keep applying - your perfect opportunity is out there. Let me know if any other advice could help!

For example with my company. We may get say, 100 applications per week. If you don't have a required certification, you get dropped immediately. Then I'll run background and credit checks, if you have a sex offense, theft or embezzlement convictions, cyber crime convictions or kidnapping convictions, you'll be dropped. If your credit is shit, you'll be dropped. If your prior employers and or references don't have good things to say, you'll get dropped. But if up to this point you're good, you come in for a drug test and interview. If you fail the test, you're dropped. If you smell of weed or booze, have an attitude or are clearly an idiot, you get dropped.

That's an example of why. Out of every week of this, maybe 20 people get hired, and most don't make it through the 90 day probation period.
