Hi,
I graduated from my undergraduate program and applied for a master’s degree at the same uni. I received my CASand then applied for a visa extension. However, I’m veryworried about the outcome of my visa application. I spenttime outside the UK during term time. Specifically duringCovid-19. I was outside the UK for roughly two months. Could this affect my new visa application for postgraduate?
Thanks,

The past absences likely won't affect your visa extension application too negatively as long as you explain the circumstances properly. A few points:
- Covid disrupted a lot of international students' plans, so they may be more understanding of absences during that time.
- As long as you were still actively enrolled and making progress in your undergrad during that time, that's the important part from their perspective.
- If you have proof you went home temporarily during the pandemic rather than abandoning your studies, that helps your case. Travel records, family correspondence etc.
- For a postgrad application they'll look more at your educational history in the UK as a whole - that you successfully completed your undergrad.
- Be upfront about the absences in your application but stress it was an exceptional situation and you intend to study full-time if granted the extension.
- It may help to get a note of support from your university registrar confirming your prior academic standing was good.
As long as you explain clearly and have evidence, I wouldn't worry too much. Covid threw things off for everyone. Focus on your solid academic background otherwise. Fingers crossed for good news! Try not to stress - it was likely just a temporary glitch.
