Have you ever quit a horrible job? What was the last straw?

The woman who works as a driver for me and my wife told me how a job she had held some years ago was so toxic she was taking sick leave at least a few days a month. She said that when she subconsciously started to hope she'd have an accident on her way to work, she decided to get out.

On the other hand, she likes her current job and although she goes home tired, she doesn't mind.

I've quit a dozen jobs. 2 regretfully. The rest were from shitty moves by them. The worst one was me passing on a competing job offer because the company said they would match the pay. They didn't. The agreement took the form of the CRO switching form a text conversation to a video call, so there was no record I could use.

In response, I fucked that entire company over, legally, and they're still not the same. I got borderline threats from the CEO (who got fired by the board) after what I did. I'm known in the entire industry over that situation. Fuck them.

I was 16, working in a small KFC, and we didn't have a manager. Something happened that a good manager could have prevented, and the area supervisor wanted to hold me responsible, so I said "screw this!"

I walked off a job once when I was in college. I worked in a retail store for some crazy manager woman that belonged in an asylum.

The last straw was her sudden impulse to completely empty the backroom of inventory into the sales for to wash the shelves and reorganize (without any planning) That would have been questionable if it was needed.

Anyhow, I had already worked a full shift and kept on with her crazy idea until 6am the next day without progress because she was so indecisive. She didn't want me to leave until everything was done.

I left.

I quit my last job like that... The reason was that I was trying to study for the bar exam and I just really started to resent going into work. It chewed up lots of time. I really couldn't focus on what I was doing... I was burnt out as a caretaker.

Some of my coworkers were also being difficult. That job had a place in my life, but that time had passed.

The last straw was when he said I couldn't have bathroom breaks.

I said, "Okay. Bye!". And I clocked out right then and there and walked out the door.

I've been very fortunate... never had a bad job.

I did leave a job once because I wasn't overly happy with the area I lived in (suburb of a huge city), but that job was fine, actually one of the best jobs I ever had.
