How did you quit your last job?

I quit peacefully. It was a good experience or just didn't want to cause any issues.

I burned it all down. Dropped some verbal work bombs, exposing lies, hypocrisy, lazy or corrupt employees

Just walked off into the sunset, no notice of any kind

Quit by taking a few people with me to greener pastures or poached them to another company

I got a job through the AARP as a fucking JANITOR at the local Red Cross office building. Granted, there was very little toilet cleaning and waste basket emptying and I only had to vacuum when I felt something might need it or if there really was a mess that needed cleaned up. (Most of what I did was paint everywhere.) It was only 6 hours a day, 3 days a week for minimum wage ($7.50 an hour) but, the up side was I not only got my own office but, I ended up spending a great deal of my time there in my office because there just wasn't that much work to deal with. Sometimes, I had to make shit up just to show that I wasn't just getting paid to sit around. Besides, I really don't like just sitting around.
At this point in time, my ex-sisters were taking me to court over the validity of mom's last Will. They didn't like it so, they wanted to go by her old Will where they benefited!! They'd been stealing from mom the last 2 or 3 years of her life so, she decided to leave the house to me, since I gave up my life those last few years, to take care of her! Besides, she KNEW that those cunts wanted to kick me out and sell the house but also that I had nowhere else to go and lived my entire life there while those two cunts moved out decades ago and have their own houses and, mom wanted the house to stay in the family! So, she changed her Will from: each of us getting 1/3 of the estate to, me getting a 50% share and a life estate and those cunts had to split the other 50%. That was, really, the only difference!
Well, a court date came up and I had to be there by a certain hour on one of my work days and I told them well in advance that on that day, I had the court date and was gonna HAVE to leave work an hour or 2 early to get to court on time. So, I was just about to leave when somebody up on the 2nd floor had a major fuck-up with a Xerox machine and there was black toner all over the carpet and nearly everything else! So, they made me go up and clean it up before I left the building! It was a HUGE mess and I ended up accidentally inhaling some of the toner but, I got it all cleaned up very quickly and busted ass trying to get to the courtroom and had to walk at least a mile uphill the whole way, after taking a 5:00 bus ride into town and JUST made it to court with only about 2:00 to spare!! Once the court appearance was over about half an hour later, I rushed to my doctor's office to see what I could do about the toner I inhaled and find out if it was gonna be dangerous. They said I should be okay and I should just drink a lot of water (I think) the next day or two.
Well, a little over a year later, I lost the house and was being kicked out and I had until 10:00 a. m., Dec. 18th, to get all of my stuff out of the house; one week before Christmas!!
My bosses knew about this, I made sure they knew! But, one of the days I was busy trying to pack up, they wanted me to STILL come in to work for my usual 6 hours!! It was like they didn't give a flying fuck that I had a life outside of the Red Cross so, my time constraints had nothing to do with them!! It's like, you HAVE to do this or that to save someone's life but, they just COMPLETELY ignored that you HAVE to do those things by a certain time to save that life and they STILL wanted you to come to work and THEN you could try to save that life!! Like if Blowfeld set a bomb that's gonna destroy the whole planet in just 30 minutes and James Bond has to go and defuse the bomb before it goes off and kills everyone but, these schmucks want him to come in and mop the floors and sweep the sidewalks for 6 hours BEFORE going to defuse the bomb within 30:00!! SORRY!! It DON'T FUCKIN' WORK LIKE THAT!! So, I sent them an e-mail and told them to go jump in the fucking lake, I'm NOT coming in!! I have MUCH more important things to do so, I don't have TIME to come in!!
I STILL didn't get everything out of the house and spent 3 solid days with no sleep getting as much out as I could!! I WAS told that I was gonna be allowed to go back and get more stuff but, the guy that told me that (someone who USED to be a friend of mine in high school!!) went back on that because he had some screwy idea that, once I got back in, I'd refuse to come out!! So, I lost possibly millions of dollars worth of my stuff as well as a lifetime of memories!! If I ever get enough money to do so, I hope to sue the pants off of every last one of those motherfuckers!!

My manager forced me to resign. He was impossible to work with. Very poor communicator, a lot of gaslighting, didn't really know or care about my team's side of things. I never knew where I stood with him; one week, we're getting along just fine and the next, we're at each other's throats. He also put me on the busiest part of the week by myself with no backup and no overtime allowed.

One day, something happened over the weekend, I got called in, he told me "I can't keep having this same conversation (that was a lie, we'd never had "this conversation" before), so I'm filing paperwork with HR". He gave me the option to resign, which I chose to do.

I got the last laugh though. Sure, I had to leave the job I'd known and loved for seven years, tired, frustrated, and burned out though I was at that point. And yeah, I took a job at my current employer that was a fairly significant pay cut. But by the time he'd realized his mistake, I'd already moved on. They eventually tried getting me to come back, but around that same time, I got a promotion that had better hours, less stress, and paid $10,000 a year more than I made when I left the previous company.

That sounds like it all worked out in the end. I had a similar situation, where I actually really liked my job and my co-workers, had been there nearly 5 years, but upper management was a train wreck. Two steps forward, 10 steps back. Same thing, don't know what they had until it's gone. I was begged to come back 2x, but i'd already started my own business.

Glad you got poetic justice. Sometimes we think what a pain to leave because we can't see the good that's coming.

It was actually really nice — I got some good news, tidied up my desk and went to tell my boss that I needed to give my two weeks’ notice. I interviewed and hired my replacement, tied up any loose ends and at the end of the two weeks I got a little mocha cake from the team with a “boss” sign on it bc I was leaving for my first management job.


The job before that, though, was more like a scene Jason and the Argonauts…. OOOOF!

But I left after threatening my leadership and telling them how shitty and fake they were. After sucking up to me for 3 fucking hours and apologizing they finally got my paperwork through. I did not leave in a good note with them, lol. My coworkers were great though

I was working in IT and I had to take 8 weeks off to have surgery. When I got back the boss made me sit at the help desk all day. After a couple of weeks I went into his office and just told him that the job just was not what I wanted and I would be leaving. I told him that I really enjoyed working there and wanted to leave while I still had only good memories to take with me. I also went in to talk to the CIO and asked her if I could use her as a reference and she said she would be happy to do that for me. There were no police involved.

TBH none of the above, I was laid off because the wheels came of the business. They grew to quick and once there was even the slightest drop in workload they started dropping employees.

Once it started up again and was busy no one that they let go wanted to go back, so they kind of screwed the pooch on that one. It was a very specialized service and hard to find other people that know what they are doing.

Last job before this was pretty amicable as well, basically gave them a deadline to give me what I wanted and they kept coming up with excuses not too, so gave up

My last 4 jobs all quit me.

I was in IT for 20 years, or 4 5-year cycles of growth, plateau, hiring freeze, and layoffs. That's why I got out of IT - it's an endless cycle. Now I have my own little company and I am the boss.

I can't imagine how frustrating that must have all been. I'm now my own boss too. Just got tired to dealing with broken management systems that rewarded mediocrity. Now you're in the big seat which I'm sure is quite the benefit.

The seat isn't all that big, but there are definitely advantages. I do my very best to reduce the amount of stupid BS - though because I have to deal with other companies (Internet Service Providers, for example), there's still plenty of BS remaining. I just try to avoid adding to it.

There's a ton of extra work running your own company (as you would know) - after I do my "work" for my customers, I have to come home and do all of the administrative work, which is like having a second job. But it's still better in a lot of ways than dealing with corporate-level BS - ESPECIALLY now with such insane levels of corporate wokeness, which I *mostly* avoided by leaving the corporate world 20 years ago.

It was pretty clean, just sent them a mail, and waited for them to reply it for confirmation.
The next work day I went and told my leader to let her know as well.
