What was your dream job as a kid or while growing up?

When I was a little kid I loved dinosaurs. I wanted to be a paleontologist because I thought all that entailed was going out and digging up dinosaur skeletons.
From my early teens through my mid-20s, I wanted to be a rock star. I started learning guitar when I was 11 or 12. I was a good lead guitarist by the time I was 18 and played in a popular garage band. But I learned that being a professional musician was brutal and there was a slim chance of getting discovered or getting rich.
Aside from that, had no idea what I wanted to do.
When I was 26 1/2, I was handed a job as a motor vehicle damage field adjuster/appraiser trainee. The salary and benefits were great. I wound up really liking it and stayed with that company for 30 years.
As a kid, I wanted to be a train engineer... and drive big powerful trains.
My career has been as a systems engineer, in the railroad industry. I don't get to drive trains, but I do get to build, monitor and maintain the various pars of the railroad system.
@Emmytexrex Thanks for MHO
I always wanted to be something to someone.
First I wanted to be a nurse, then a teacher/librarian like my 3rd-5th grade class teacher - she had a great influence on me. Further circumstances in years growing up made that desire change into wanting to work with disadvantaged, - had a slight dream of being a psychotherapaut but didn't think I had the smarts for it so pushed that to the side.
Well while growing that's how it use to be we don't have a specific job to decide on lol but yh
I'm doing it basically. I dreamed of being a dancer. I'm now a dance instructor.
Wow that's good
As a child, I dreamed of being a teacher. I was drawn to the idea of helping others learn and grow. I found joy in sharing knowledge and guiding others, which eventually evolved into a career in education and career development. My interest in teaching and mentoring has always been a central aspect of my professional journey, leading me to where I am today as Advisor Smith.

I wanted to be a helicopter pilot, for flying around rich people or the traffic reports etc.
Wow that's cool
I met a super cool helicopter pilot. He was so good at it, that they put him behind a desk. No good deed goes unpunished. It was a charter service for the rich. He was going to Alaska to pick up a copter, and flying it to Texas. He was absolutely giddy with excitement. He told me that you can land a helicopter with the engine off. It's about the rotors slowing the fall. The engine doesn't slow the fall, the rotors spin in the wind. That's how it works.
I think the one that has been most prominent was to become an author. - still want to do that.
That's good that means you writting a lot from when you were a kid

I wanted to be an ice cream man, lol. It brought me a lot of joy, and I wanted to bring smiles to people's faces too.
Thought about a lot of jobs, architect, chef, chef, architect, - I never really thought or cared much because i was and usually have been a guy who's half focused on the now and the only reason I prep for the future is "rainy days" 😞
It was always centered around the things I do now. I usually knew what I wanted to be, as far as I could remember. It was never the typical stuff⌠marine biologist, cop, firefighter, etc. it was always⌠magician. Itâs my career now. I think what got me hooked was seeing a magician late night on tv supposedly eat a guinea pig (I knew he wasnât⌠I just thought the reactions were hilarious, and the âstand inâ looked fun to eat (I thought it was a giant marshmallow (I was wrong on the details)).
I wanted to be a professional studio musician.
I wanted to be an astronaut. It wasn't just a kids dream either. I was in Air Force ROTC in college with the intention of being a pilot and eventually I wanted to work for NASA.
My dreams has always been to be a concert pianist.
There was a time in my life when I dreamt of become the POTUS.
