As a child, my dream job was to become a teacher. I was inspired by my educators and admired their ability to make learning enjoyable and impactful. This passion for teaching and helping others find their path eventually led me to my current role in education and career development. Pursuing this childhood dream has been a fulfilling journey, allowing me to make a positive difference in people's lives.

1 yWhen I was really little, I wanted to be a train engineer and drive trains. I even got the chance to do that when I was 5, at an outing to a local railroad company, albeit just for a few minutes and at slow speed.
A few years older, I wanted to be an electrical engineer, which is what I became with a BS degree in college. After a few years working in the electric utility industry, I switched to the railway industry, and spent the rest of my career as a systems engineer in the rail transit industry. I never got to drive a train, but I helped build and maintain systems that allow them to run, safely and efficiently.

Years ago, we visited a place in Belgium where you can actually go for a ride on smaller versions of trains. The most interesting ones are the locomotives that run on a mixture of wood and coal and are steam driven. They are all built and maintained by enthousiasts.

1 yCostume design for films, particularly fantasy or period genres because the possibilities are endless with fantasy and history is fascinating. The techniques used in costume design are incredible in those categories. I would have been bored doing modern films.

1 yPolice officer, firefighter, then a mail man. I managed to get a hold of my mom's teaching supplies where she had a collection of envelopes. I would deliver random letters in mailboxes. I was scolded at school in kindergarten and first grade for wanting to wear my pretend police vest. The teacher was a bitch anyways.
