To become proficient in six months, you have to immerse yourself into speaking Spanish, or whatever language you want to learn. It's doable.

When people tell me it's hard to learn another language, I simply point out that two year olds are learning that language just fine.

that obviously depends on so many factors, and mostly related to how good you are at it and the effort you put on it

but, if you already learned a second or third language other than you're own... then you can do a lot of good progress in six months
