It’s not. This is a total invasion into a person’s privacy. How are you going to tell someone that the consumption of a perfectly legal substance in their FREE TIME is going to bar them from getting a job? Wtf kind of bullshit is that? To make things worse, it specifically targets cannabis users. A person can be a regular coke user, and their system will be cleaned out in about 3-4 days. A person can also be an alcoholic, and have absolutely zero worries. I would much prefer to higher someone who smokes weed every night, than someone who gets plastered drunk every night. When are we going to stop with the bullshit? When is cannabis going to be treated like alcohol?

It is not an invasion of your privacy. You have the right to decline testing, which, for most companies, means you will not work for them.

Companies have every right to make sure their employees are fit for work, and pre-employment drug testing, as well as random drug testing, is one way to do that. It would be foolish for a company to take the risk of hiring someone who is partially or completely incapacitated by drugs, creating a potential safety risk to themselves or others.

Simply put. If you don't like it, get a job somewhere else... but your choices will be limited.

You can't fly an airplane drunk. You can't fly an airplane while high. They have regulations for that. Most airlines require 12 hours minimum between drinks the regulations are less stringent... now dope ( slang for Cannabis source: American Addiction Center) ) has even longer limits. usually weeks. If you test positive for dope or alcohol you will likely face discipline. If you want the freedom to be a dope head you also have the freedom not to work in safety sensitive jobs. Isn't freedom wonderful?
