Is paying people to not use drugs a good idea?

California is introducing a pilot program in 24 counties that will pay meth users to quit the drug. In San Francisco, participants will get $10 gift cards for Walmart or another retailer each time their drug tests return negative.

Numerous studies have found the strategy to be highly effective, yet some people have "moral" objections to this treatment strategy. What do you think?

The thing about this is that this method works VERY well in getting people to stop using. Still think it's not worth it?

it is a bad idea only if you don't factor in costs and instead factor in your personal need for vengence.
