Do you think all people who work should have the right to work from home?

I think most jobs are better done in the group setting at the workplace. You learn so much from being around other workers. You learn a lot about the line of work, pick up on ideas, and learn from other's successes and mistakes. More so than you would being at home.
All so true. Work from home is a threat to national security and dumbs down the workforce.
I was working in Manhattan, NYC on 9/11 and watched the planes hit the towers from my office in a nearby tall building. In the weeks after the attack, the mood was obviously tense and many of our employees did not want to come back to the office. As CFO, I had a part in what the policy would be going forward. There were some difficult decisions. Some of the people said that they never wanted to come back and wanted to work from home permanently. Others came back. We were very generous with a patient policy, but eventually had to let a small percentage of people go when they no longer had a rational explanation for not returning.
I completely understand. People working in "most" jobs can't really rationally expect to always be able to work from home. And who wants to do that anyway? It would be like 90% of you life would be at home.
And then there is the thing where you learn a lot about "life" working with other people, and not just learning about the job. You hear what other people are going through in life and you see what works and what doesn't work for them. For example, when I was in my early 30's, everyone that I worked with had at least one child at home and they were usually stressed out over it. ALL of them at one point in time or another would jokingly tell me "Don't have kids!" I listened, and never did. LOL
Absolutely true. For most of my career I spent more time with my collogues than I did with my family. It was a critical part of my social and career development. These kids that are spending their career working at home will develop all kinds of professional AND social interaction deficits that will hamper their careers.
That is well said. Professional and social deficits.
Absolutely not, I don't think anyone should work from home ever. If I was in charge of a company the only way I'd allow it is if people could demonstrate that they're more productive at home than in the office when compared to numbers prior to the work from home fad started.
No, some jobs are impossible to do from home, like trade jobs for example. You can’t build a house or do someone’s plumbing from your own home!
The right to work from home depends on various factors, including job nature, industry, and individual circumstances. While many can benefit from remote work, improving flexibility and work-life balance, not all roles are suited for it. Essential roles requiring physical presence, like healthcare or manufacturing, may not be appropriate for remote work. Providing the option, where feasible, can enhance employee satisfaction and productivity. Ultimately, it's crucial to evaluate each role and consider employee needs, ensuring that such rights are balanced with operational requirements and team collaboration.

How is a coporfirefighter going to work from home. How about a doctor? There are many jobs that must be done on site.
Or one of Santa's reindeer for that matter!
