Would you feel in debt with your father if he's disabled from saving you?

Our manager and business owner (by late Nov) got married on March of last year at the age of 35 and is now pregnant for the first time.

She came a long way. She was given 75% of free college tuition and her father paid the remaining 25%. Her long career and busy schedule delayed her romantic life. Well she had a couple bfs in the past but it wouldn't last too long. He father chose to pay for most of her wedding expenses, including her dress too.

Fast-forward to Mid January:

She was spending quality time with her father. A driver was speeding and heading for her direction. The father gets in the way and shoves her out of the way. The driver tries avoiding the accident but couldn't stop on time. The father ended up taking the full impact. He survived but is disabled and limps for life. She has offered to pay for all his treatment and everything but he declined.

She felt in debt because he has done a lot, taught her the same skills he would've done for a son (using tools, car maintance, how to shoot, etc), paid for her remaining tuition, paid for most of her wedding expenses and nearly died getting her out of the way of the accident. Would you also feel in debt too? He would've accepted her offer but said no to it.
