Yes, sounds about right
That seems low for that rate

It's on the pay stub -- $20 x hours worked - taxes and any other deductions. How many hours did you work? What were the deductions? Assuming you are working as an employee (W-2 wages), you will pay about 8% social security and Medicare, plus federal and state income tax, and I don't know what else.
80 hours. Just seems weird because that’s where my paychecks were when I made $17.50
Um okay, not sure why you’re being rude
Not whining, I have no clue how you perceived anything I said as “whining.” You actually appear to be the one who is whining. it’s a simple question. There’s no need to be a dick. Either answer it politely or fuck off.
I tried. I told you where the money may be going but you weren't interested, so the only conclusion is that you didn't have a question, you just wanted to complain "I thought I would take home more money". What sort of answer did you expect? "Aw, I know, we're all getting ripped off by the man. Would it help if I play my tiny violin for you?"
It would help if you fucked off asshole. 🖕
Great. I'm the only person who gave you real information, but you just wanted someone to say "sounds about right to me". Is it right? Who knows? Maybe they are shorting you hours. Maybe they are taking deductions you shouldn't be paying. If you are in the US, maybe they are withholding too much income tax and you should file an updated W-4.
Sounds about right for two weeks (80 hours).
Sounds about right, but why work for peanuts?
Unfortunately most jobs pay peanuts
Calculating a take-home pay of $1,240 for an hourly wage of $20 involves considering various factors such as hours worked and deductions. For a typical 40-hour work week, pre-tax earnings would be $800. If this is a biweekly pay, then gross would be $1,600. After taxes and potential deductions for items like health insurance or retirement contributions, $1,240 could indeed be a reasonable net pay. Exact amounts can vary based on tax rates and other personal deductions.

if it is for a 40 hour workweek it is too much.
Is that a week? Or a month? How many hours?
I think it sounds about right.
