Do you have an area of expertise that is based entirely off of your personal affinity for the subject matter?

I’m something of an expert hockey-fighting historian, I guess. I’ve always loved watching scraps since I was a kid. Back in the VCR era, I would watch NHL games with a blank tape in the deck on “record-pause”, and I got pretty good at predictively gauging crowd noise to where I could tell if there was a fight brewing off camera, so I could un-pause and record the fight in its entirety.
I’ve paid spotty attention to the NHL over the last 20 years, but I’ve never lagged on keeping up with who the top tough guys are. I like hockey, but I love the fights more than anything else. Now with YouTube, I can go back and watch guys from before my time too. Clark Gillies, Behn Wilson, Dave Schultz, Nick Fotiu, etc. So I’m really getting well-versed in this stuff.
It doesn’t do me much professional good though, haha. At best, it prepared me for beer league hockey when I took it up as an adult. Finally got to live my dream, lmfao…

I even have a mentor now, lmao, this 60-something year old guy who was a goon in the Federal League back in the 80s😝

But all this plus five dollars will get me coffee and a donut🤦♂️😂
Not the Federal League, that was Slapshot, I watched that the other night, lmao. Spacing on the name of his old league right now🤔 Posted that and then was like “wait a minute….”😂
I'm an expert on developing a video game character in a particular game from a basic character all the way up to an expert one using a variety of techniques and including a variety of outside software applications. It's been a lot of fun and for some people it would be very important, but it's not something I've ever told anyone else about.
When you say “developing”, are you literally suggesting from the developer side of gaming? Or are you referring to the player side of the experience in which you manage an archetype and skill tree to create an extremely effective playable character?
Card games. I'm hard to beat and I enjoy it when somebody beats me at it.
Absolutely, I have a passion for classical music, particularly playing the piano. While I've spent years honing this skill, it doesn't directly contribute to my professional growth in the field of education and career development. However, it offers personal fulfillment, enhances creativity, and provides a balancing counterpoint to my professional endeavors. Pursuing a passion, even if it's unrelated to your career, can enrich your life and inspire greater creativity and problem-solving in your work. It's a reminder that personal interests can contribute to well-rounded personal development without needing to be professionally relevant.
