Need help with life advice , I feel stuck?

Hi guys, I'm a 3rd year university student pursuing a Bachelor in Business Administration and I'm majoring in accounting. I'm based in Toronto, Canada. I have been applying for an internship but haven't landed anything so far. I have no accounting experience and I'm also in a university that's not well known because it's the only one I can afford at the moment. Instead of feeling sorry for myself please help me out. Any kind of advice to get through this phase?

Are you having second thoughts about your major?
Are you doubting if you will be good at it?
Is the big concern not getting an internship?
Are you burned out on school?

First of all, don't worry about a lesser known school. Your degree is 95+% of it. There are some people and some companies that place weight on a big name school, but that's a small part of the market. So don't worry about that at all.

YOU are what matters in your education. Sure, some universities are better than others, but the student matters far more than the uni. How much you learn and understand is up to you.

You shouldn't need an internship. Unless things are drastically different in Canada, which I doubt, not many people have experience prior to their first job out of college.

I think maybe what you need is a bit of a pep talk. You are in your third year. Think about what you've learned already. You know a heck of a lot more about accounting than you did a few years ago. Universities have been at this a long time. They will give you the background you need to get started. So trust in your education and trust in yourself.

You WILL run into things that were not covered in uni, and you WILL run into things that are different than the model you learned. And you WILL be stumped and feel like you don't know what the hell you are doing. All of that is OK and normal. So expect it and don't lose faith in yourself when it happens.

It's not multiple choice any more. Think it through and apply what you've learned. And don't be afraid to ask questions. Employers love employees who ask questions and want to learn. That is far preferable to employees who think they know everything. Have faith in yourself and your education and welcome the chance to apply what you've learned in a broader way.

When you leave uni, that is when your real education starts. Take advantage of your first job and think of it as continuing education, because that's exactly what it is.

Ok first of all are you 100 % positive this is what you really want to do... second. The title of the school doesn't matter the only thing that matters is that you are good at what you do... when you get a job what can you bring to the table... Are you an asset to the company

I think it's just getting closer and closer to where the next step is a job. Maybe your afraid no one will be searching or hiring for an employee in accounting

So that means a couple different things

You can make up a portfolio.
And pass it out to businesses that you would like to work for.
And tell them why you are an asset



But it sounds like there's something. That, that is happening in that line of work, and you're not for sure with yourself.

Talk to your professors and any alumni offices or career placement offices at the uni. While you can independently apply for a million internships; find out if any humans you know are connected to companies and can personally refer you. You may still need to apply and go through the formal process but a person to person connection gets you in the door

Lol. Im an accountant and I barely made it out of 8th grade for free. Life isn't about your bullshit education. Its about achievement. Go work somewhere free and prove you know what you wasted your money on. Do that for 6 months and put it on your resume and you will start to get somewhere

If you can get tickets go to a Jays game and have a hotdog and a beer... live for more than just school and getting a job. Those things do not define you. Life is about so much more.
