School is basically a babysitting service to get more women into the work force to make labor cheaper. Notice how now it takes two incomes for most folks to get by.

Far from educating you kids school is about preparing kids for a factory or office job where they are on a clock. The only kids that learn at school and the most intelligent and of course the school pays most attention to these because they show how great the school is as an educational facility and because it requires zero effort to teach these kids.

School also serves the government to indoctrinate kids with whatever political agenda they deem important. Whether it be today's woke politics or in the past getting kids to join the military.

This is why so many parents are home schooling. I mean if kids are barely litterate and can't do basic math then why send them to school at all.

If you were tasked with reforming the school system what changes would you bring?

Where would on start. I guess you'd have to start with making literacy, maths a priority. Respect for teachers guaranteed. No more every kid has right to education policy where a pupil can disrupt the rest of the class constantly or assault teachers and still be allowed in the same class. Get rid of teachers that are just phoning it in. Review the amount of paperwork teachers are forced to do and is it necessary or even relevant to teaching, teachers i know talk of mountains of paperwork that they have to do daily that they are stuck doing out of hours after school and at weekends. If a teacher is getting paid 9am-5pm then they shouldn't be doing paperwork until 10pm.
Also review how much actually needs to be taught in the classroom and hos much can be done at home, like during the summer. Some countries with high literacy and mathematics rates dont even give kids homework.

I agree there's a lot of unnecessary pressure and work load on both students and teachers, bloated curriculums, there's also a lot of teachers who shouldn't be teaching.

Bloated, yes that would be the word. I was pulled out of high school but I remember in history we were taught almost exclusively about ww2, the Holocaust & the nagasaki/hiroshima and student went on learning about that for nearly 5 years until gcse exams. Religion was another one, its an easy GCSE but it dealt with different religions, morality, religious history. Completely unessary. We also had to do pastrol care and do our Record of achievement which is a red folder we add supposed to hand to a future employer. All wasted an hour or two each day and had homework.

  • Work and school serve different purposes but share similarities. School focuses on knowledge acquisition and skill development, providing a structured environment for learning and growth. It's a time to explore interests and build a foundation for future careers.

Work, on the other hand, involves applying learned skills to achieve practical goals, often within less structured and more competitive environments. It provides opportunities for career advancement and personal fulfillment.

Both school and work have challenges and rewards. Viewing work as an extension of educational growth, rather than an "evil version," allows for a more positive and proactive mindset.
