Hi, I was just wondering if i am an asshole if I dont tip when I order online to-go and I go and pick it up. (delivery is different I tip well when its delivered) but when i go to pick it up I dont tip.

That said, no, you are doing the work and they aren't doing work other than ordering, so no. But if you want to tip just to make their day or for places you appreciate being in business. That's what I do... beause you will mis them if they decide to throw in the towel and it is not easy to run a business nor survive. That said, some make a killiing, so be smart about it.

I tip regardless. Servers make next to nothing so anything to help them out.

Tip for what? For them doing what they are being paid to do, if you are picking it up I don't think they really deserve a tip just cause you ordered online, unless you want to tip for their regular service, it being ordered online shouldn't make a difference, if anything it makes both lives easier, they have time to prep the food and you don't have to wait when you arrive

Nope, not at all. Tipping is a great thing when you eat at a restaurant and a sever takes care of you, but there is ZERO need to tip for takeout. That's an example of how out of control tipping has gotten.
