Sometimes it’s because they’ve been there the longest. I knew someone that would drop residents on the floor, wipe them incorrectly and give them UTI’s, shower them with cold water, she was very rough with them when dressing them and grooming them (causing bruises) and yet even when she was reported to management, nothing was done. They ONLY went after the new people. I’m glad I stopped working at that place. It’s a shame that company is still in business even after the lawsuits and reports to the state.

Maybe HR is not aware of their behavior. The moment you report abusive behavior to HR action needs to be taken.

It’s usually cause they’re totally focused on a work. if no one likes them there’s no one socialize with so often times they end up being the only one who’s doing what they’re supposed to be doing. They’re also removed from any drama I will contribute to them getting fired.

Because you can’t fire someone just because people don’t like them , if that was the case most people wouldn’t have jobs period. So all that matters is they come to work and do their job , they are there to work and make a paycheck no matter who likes them or not. So whoever doesn’t like the coworker , just stay away from them and focus on the job itself

I agree that would be frustrating, but there's a version of a strike that started, iirc, in Australia. It's called a "work to rule". Basically, you do everything that's in your contract, but nothing more. No unpaid overtime, leave at 5 o'clock, even if you're in the middle of a sentence, no doing someone else's work for them, etc..

If they're really as bad as you say, HR will have to take notice.

Or you could simply put in written complaints to HR every time you have to do their work for them, making it clear who was asked to do what.
