Would you quit a Job that is actually nearly perfect but there is just one work colleague that you don't get along with?

I have a new job for a month and so far it is really great!
I do not plan to stay there my whole life but still the next 2 to max. 5 years.
My only problem? This one colleague. I hate her, I hate how she acts, I hate her immaturity as an 25 years old, I hate that she is over the top "nice" so others like her and give her validation and I have strictly stayed away from people like that but now I have to sit with her every day...
I am not going to quit the job, I am paid too well for that, but I have seriously considered it.

Would that be a reason for you to quit? What is your pain threshold?

I dealt with weirdos and delusional people, i once was this guy's partner and had to have his back but I could not talk to him about anything. Because he told me NAS was just a ryhmer and a poet and that the stuff some old school rappers rapped about wasn't real it was just poetry. I wanted to fight him for saying that and then he told he was Mr see to believe lol dog you can see these hands in your face hahaha.

I had to limit conversation with him and he was my partner for two years lol weird thing is we actually became friends cause we had a silent unspoken bond. But what he said still gets to me hahaha.

But I think the worse co worker I ever had was a gay dude, who was my manager at an old job years ago who was sexually harassing me in a way.

Talking about how he loves black men especially the lighter skinned tones and how he wants a big black thing in his mouth? He even use to text me and act like it was a group chain text... and I would ask others, aye did so-so text you and they be like naaah, so I made sure not to ever respond! ... it felt like a horror story. But he was only my manager for a few weeks, but thay was annoying af & I'm glad I don't work regular jobs anymore hahaha

I think I would try to hang on to it and work through dealing with this person. But I also can’t stand desk jobs so if the job is just sitting at a desk next to one another I would quite!! 😂

I quit my 4 year job for many reasons but one thing that also made me want to was one of the girls on my team. We mainly worked from home but went to the office for team meetings. She was something like a team lead and talked to us like a dog. And no one even stood up to her. I couldnt believe it. I told my mom about her one day and turns out, she was a classmate of my mom who tried to bully my mom but my mom stood up to her. Lmao look... I know what i can/can't handle. I dont think I’m built to physically fight that lady (just as i would never try to physically fight my mom). I’ve seen what they can do. But my mom was so ready to whoop that ladys ass again 😂 I had to stop her. Another bad part about the job was going onsite to train new people. I recall telling y'all about one who wanted to fight me but was surprised I challenged her. And another trainee who wanted to set the entire building on fire and kept flicking a lighter next to me. Man im so glad to be free from that job

No, I have dealt with some colleagues like this in the past and I survived for almost 10 years. You need to distract yourself from her and focus on your task. It is not gonna be easy but once you manage to take full control over the situation, you’d feel like she doesn’t even exist there. Plus if other colleagues are all getting along with you well, it shouldn’t be much an issue. Quitting is pointless because if you have experienced working in multiple places, parasite like this is everywhere. In fact, you’d never know if the new place would be a lot worse.

No, I would not consider quitting a job for one terrible person. What I would be doing is confront her about her behavior with proof and evidence - like I have already done so in the past with colleagues whom I wasn't getting along with- or I would consider changing my work hours on my schedule in order not to have her around in my environment.

Absolutely not. There's someone here that loathe completely (it's mutual) and I've made it clear to my superiors that, unless it's necessary for work, she is not to be in my office. Not gonna risk my ability to pay my bills because of a measly coworker

It's a difficult dilemma because it's awful having to tolerate and spend all day around someone you dislike. But on the flip side you could leave, and find another job only to discover there's more like her there. Or even worse than her.

I try to adapt my personality around other people's personality. That's always helped to when I've been around toxic work colleagues.

Someone else has suggested to request being re-seated elsewhere. That could be one option for you.

I had similar experience in my job , and not once but twice with the same dude, at one point he even told me he'd beat me and was brandishing a knife at me lol, I'm like. w. e talk is cheap, later on he collapsed in an alley trying to take out trash,,,

We found him passed out and went to hospital, I was like -karma bitch- he's in his 60s, sadly, he's still there, sigh, seems to be nicer now , thank god...

he doesn't try to boss my anymore, I sticked it out and its better now, we really got into a heated screaming fight that one time, and never again. DOn't take sht from people, Karma will get em, its a thing

I did once, and I regretted it because I let a person get their way and exclude me from a place I loved.

At least it sounds like your colleague is not actively malicious, so just ignore her and interact with her only when strictly necessary.

It would not be, but when dealing with coworkers I don't particularly care for, I remind myself that employers in America are equal-opportunity companies, and as such this particular employee was hired to fill a diversity quota. As such, I must tolerate them.

my job is the same way where everyone works as a team but there is one guy in his 50's that tries kissing the bosses ass and minds everyone else's business instead focusing on his own tasks and on a side note lives with his mother but professionally speaking if i were to do his performance review i would add a comment stating "Does Not Play Well With Others".

You sound like the problem. You're there to do a job and get paid for it. It's not a social club. People aren't hired to entertain you. People are hired for their experience and set of skills to so that productive work can be completed. Everyone has to be a team player and work with people they don't like. You're letting your emotions get in the way of your performance.

The only situation I would quit is if that person was my manager. There's no way I could advance in the company with them still around, and they might even try to get me fired if they disliked me. Happened in my last job.

Sounds like a dumb reason ever hear of the power of disengagement and co existence… I get that fake nice can be annoying but there is a lot worse out there, all you have to do is respond candidly or seem uninteresting and that will most likely limit any communication that isn’t strictly work, it may take persistency but she will most likely get it. Don’t be so easily annoyed your letting someone have way to much power over you.
