What's one 'boring' career that's actually a goldmine if you play it smart?

I think, in general, most financial businesses seem really boring to me. There is also no doubt in my mind that doing those can make a lot of money for somebody, but it's not going to be me.

My time is the most valuable commodity I have because it can never be replaced. It can never be recouped in any way, and when I run out of it, I'm finished, just like the rest of us. I don't want to be bored for one second of my life, and I don't want to spend my time counting beans. Fortunately for me, what I do now is extremely dynamic and very, very fascinating as well as risky and difficult.

Aren't stock markets and analyst jobs in stocks and politics (the think tanks, etc, observers, not working public/government jobs) duh all about working hard and legitimately raking in the dollars 💰🤑 there's no rake emoji - except autumn or fall 🍂🍂🍂 leaves

For me, it would be "painting contractor"... I would not like a career in home painting or heading up painting projects. Boring to me. Although I don't mind small painting projects at home.

Accounting for sure. I know a guy who makes thousands and thousands of dollars per client doing accounting. Wish I had made that my major in college.

Not for long. AI will be taking over programming, then accounting, then law in that order. Senior staff will still be needed, but zero entry-level jobs. Within a couple of years.

I’ve coached quite a few people into this one: commercial insurance brokerage/risk management.

On the surface it sounds dull. In reality, if you play it smart:

- You build a book of business with recurring commissions.
- Once established, income becomes highly predictable and often six– to seven–figures.
- The barrier to entry is moderate: licensing, strong relationship skills, willingness to learn technical details.
- Businesses *must* buy insurance, even in downturns.

Shadow someone, get licensed, join a solid firm, then specialize (construction, tech, healthcare). The compounding effect of renewals is the real goldmine.

I say glorified, because imagine just being a night shift guy. 🌃 I mean, sure security must be hell scary and hell boring. Yet at the right place, right job, right company, right solo basically either desk console job or manning the gate (if one doesn't mind weather) - a walk in the park surely
