Why is my restaurant job passing me over for shifts and promotions?

I have been working at this restaurant for maybe 8 months. I am not perfect, but I work very hard. This has been proven by my other employers.

I learn quickly, I do my job right and to the best of my ability, and I stay on top of things. To sum it up, I am confident in my roles and give my best at work. I have been working as a host at this place, and I was asking opportunites.

The main one I was looking for was serving but was open to working anything really. kitchen, even the dish pit. anything. they always said they would but never did and even when i followed up got asked to "stop asking."

So I ended up getting a new job because I knew that I was at the bottom of the barrel there, and there was nothing I could do. Almost immediately after that, they tell me they hired an old employee and are giving her full-time. off the bat, I am disappointed and voice this. respectfully. Later, I was told very rudely by the GM that they only hired her because I changed my availability.

Which was a lie because I still had good availability that included the weekend. Regardless, I let this go, but when I got a day cut off of my schedule, this started to catch my concern so I asked about it. Then I get told all this shit about how they have other plans for the host, making her a server. and getting the new hire fully trained so she can be the strongest in the front. and that they were hiring another host who was a lead host.

I was shocked. None of these opportunities were run past me, and I always give my best. I am always on top of things, I work very hard, and I have a very good understanding of my role, and I do it very well. And these managers know this because they have told me in the past. Yet now they are robbing me of opportunities I was never considered for, now cut off days that I was told would be for weeks. and just being spoken to very rudely in the last few weeks. Can someone please tell me what is going on?
