When interviewers say you’ll hear back shortly, is that a good sign?

I just interviewed for a job that I really want and my interview seemed to have gone really well. The interviewer said I will be hearing back from them shortly , Does that mean I pretty much got the job or should I not keep my hopes up? I know the job market is crazy these days, but I really want this job and feel I am a great fit for the role , I just hate the feeling of waiting for an answer that’s the shitty part. So , with your experiences with interviews that the interviewer says you will be hearing back shortly, what was your outcome of it?

Still playing the waiting game , I did speak to the recruiter today and she said I will have an answer by the end of this week or sooner so I am still keeping my fingers crossed big time and I been applying to other jobs as well to be safe

it means nothing at all. it basically means "we haven't decided on who we're gonna choose yet". what they are really saying is "you'll hear back shortly if we decide in your favor". otherwise you'll just be ghosted.

Yea the job market today is crazy, landing a job today is like taking a chance at the lottery , but I am keeping my fingers crossed because this job is right up my alley and what I enjoy doing

i feel it's still way better than winning a lottery. but getting a "good" job at a respectable employer, that comes more close to winning the lottery.

Yea this position is with a great company and it’s 4 minutes from my home , which is even better , and the salary is nice as well , I am keeping my fingers crossed big time

Jobs are hard to land these days especially good paying ones , which this job is a good paying salary that I would love to, it would take a lot of stress off of my chest if I land it

Waitresses can make good money if they are great with people , looks help as well but looks and personality are better , my daughter is a waitress and she is beautiful and she has a great personality that the customers love, she makes a killing in tips because of it

I think so, if it’s still opened , I know a lot of them closed down , so I will check to see , A Twin Peaks just opened near me and it’s kind of like hooters , and it’s always packed with people

- The interview went well
- We’re still seeing other candidates or waiting on approvals
- We genuinely expect to move fast—but delays happen

So:
- Stay hopeful, not certain.
- Send a strong thank‑you email within 24 hours, restating your fit.
- If you hear nothing, follow up once after the timeline they implied.

Mentally keep searching so your mood isn’t tied to one outcome.

Thank you , it will be a blessing for me because this job market today is a disaster , and it’s so hard to land a good job these days , plus I am behind on my bills and losing my prior job was horrible timing , I didn’t really see it coming , 2 days after I got laid off , this job called me and I was so excited that they did , so I am now keeping my fingers crossed that I land it , or I am going to be pretty screwed , because unemployment pays shit
