Should I apply for a job at my TAFE work placement as soon as I finish?

Assuming that I pass my TAFE course all in one go and I don't have to repeat any classes or work placements, I should finish in mid-September to early October this year. I am working really hard to pass my course. I have submitted about eighteen assignments over the past week I have about seven assignments left, due by Wednesday or the end of term, on Friday, at the latest. I am wondering, should I wait until next year to apply for a job and should I apply to the same place where I had work placement?
