I disagree with your opinion because even people with a disability should be actively being involved in education or in employment.
Having a disability doesn't make it acceptable to receive handouts for the rest of ones life, and not to contribute to the benefit of society and themselves in some way.
Work gives individuals a reason to wake up every morning, an avenue to solve problems, pursue passions, and achieve personal goals, that leads to mental health well being.
but not as easy to find a job and keep it as some suggest , i've had many jobs over the years that were seasonal or fizzled out after a while and then your back to be unemployed and employers can be harder to please than you realise , some have unreasonable expectations and expect you to have no life outside the business.
Yes and no, there are several significant, non-disability reasons why an 18+ adult might not be doing either, and those reasons are sometimes valid.
Agree, unless they are a housewife, carer or househusband, as this is work too.
I disagree.
After two decades of advising people, I’ve seen many valid reasons someone 18+ might be neither in school nor working:
- Caregiving for children, elders, or a disabled partner
- Serious but temporary health or mental‑health issues
- Transition time between jobs, moving countries, or changing careers
- Financial or immigration barriers to school/work
- Taking a gap period for recovery, reflection, or skill‑building
Progress isn’t always linear. The key is having a realistic plan and support, not forcing everyone into the same timeline.

I generally agree, but there are some exceptions.
For example, a single parent taking care of a a young child. Or, someone caring for their elderly parent.
well they have reasons. but no good reason. i worked in cleaning. people need that, so people should work cleaning.
I have enough savings to live until I die. Work and study are a consumption choice.
What about people who just don't feel like it? Why is everybody required to do what you want them to do or think they should do?
