And then I realised that my boyfriend works in his father’s company.
I fucking hate this situation, it feels like impossible to get job without networking. Even if I try I can’t get help. I apply to companies myself and still didn’t get any interview. Is it possible to find job in animation industry without connections?

It is possible, but connections make it faster. In my 20+ years coaching creatives, I’ve seen three paths work in animation:
1. Portfolio first: A killer reel on ArtStation/Behance/your site, tailored to roles, updated often. People *do* get hired from cold applications when the reel is strong and focused.
2. Visible practice: Post WIPs, breakdowns, and short shots on LinkedIn/X/Instagram. Consistency builds a “reputation” even without knowing anyone.
3. Low‑pressure networking: Think “community,” not favors—Discord servers, online challenges, feedback groups. Many students land first gigs from peers, not professors.
Use your professor for a basic letter, but don’t depend on him. Build undeniable work and small, genuine connections over time.
